I prefer turn based games and both 1 and 2 are good implementations. I'd have to say that 2 edges out the top spot in the series as it has a better replay potential.
I preferred Sonny 2 because the gameplay felt a great deal smoother. I loved them both: the music, artwork and plot made them both fantastically immersive. Sadly, these days my browsers don't save any data anymore so my original games are long gone and if i want to play through them it has to be in one sitting
one main problem with sonny (the original) is the "eat items" glitch. But without it, sonny is a really hard game to beat even on easy. (stupid totem poles).
also, sonny was much much shorter than sonny 2, which is another thing sonny 2 has for it. But, the infinity bosses were the crown jewel. (tip: caste retrograde on the doctor dude, he kills himself.)
Well... Sonny 1 is a classic in my opinion and it is really entertaining, but Sonny 2 has more levels, more weapons, better Bosses, basically everything is better in Sonny 2. So I would say Sonny 2, mainly because it is everything that Sonny 1 is but better.
Hard to say which installment of the series I prefer to the other. In my opinion, the second one was slightly better, but I thought it was neat how Krin incorporated a bit of Sinjid into the first.
Who in the right mind makes a question as hard as this? After a while of thinking, i have to say Sonny 2 eeks out the win by THAT much, and here's why;
Sonny 2 is, first off, wayy harder then Sonny. Sure, Sonny is almost unloseable with it's glitches, but it's still not nearly as hard as Sonny 2 without glitches, due to the fact of Dr. Herregods not full hesling himself to death in Sonny 2.
So Sonny 2 is more of a challenge. But what about customization? It's even i say. Sure, Sonny 2's different talent trees make for more builds, but at the same time take away builds from it's original system. All 4 classes sharing the same talent tree? Talk about possibilities, man. Hybrids, healers, or true damage dealers, Sonny just had that many more options. Sonny 2's only hybrid is the Hydraulic, seings it can heal and dead quite well.
Then there's gameplay. I put this in Sonny 2's favour not only because of difficulty, but having to put more technique into it. In Sonny 2, you can't simply beat Baron Brixius from making him Focus-Starved; he can get it back. In Sonny and Sonny 2, you can, and probally will have too, heal yourself/Veradux/other teammate. So it's in Sonny 2's favour just for requireing more technique, from stun-locking Dr.Herregods to death to timing Ice Wall to block that ZPCI's Aim For The Heart buff, Sonny 2 has alot more technique in it then Sonny does.
Sonny 2 also has more zones, bosses, and gear then Sonny. But the end bosses gear sucks, sadly.
All in all, Sonny 2 eeks out the win by a little, just for the technique and longetivity of the game; it WILL take you a while to beat.
P.S. Can't wait for Sonny 3? I hope it continues in the Sonny fashion; getting better and better!
