I enjoy the gameplay much better personally. That being said, you would have had to grow up pre-date 2000 to really use them properly. If any person 11 years and younger were to play an old game, they would be lost, confused, and would find the game too hard and go play CoD. I miss Turok. Still have it, never play it.
On another note, you should see someone play the N64 after growing up in this millennia, it's hilarious watching them hold it like an Xbox controller and fail admirably at the game.
Original Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis, and the original Super Mario series on the NES. I got them both via an emulator. When I was a kid, I could never beat them, but now I can.
The difference was that back in the 1990's, games were made for older teens/ young adults, this is why the difficulty was so hard. Today, games are made for kids of almost any age, so they're so different.
I remember my first mario. Untill 2006 it was my longest played game. Sometimes old games were better but they were simpler to. Most of the times it were a few basic moves which you could combine and that was it. But sometimes I wish to go back to my childhood to just go to school and when I come home get a cookie, play soccer and after dinner play games. Those were the times.
some of my old favs had to be crash bandicoot and spyro on the PS1, such creative and rich games they were. sad to see they stop making the crash games in 2008 thought the last 2 were very bad...
Many games that are made now are made so that a wider audience are able to play the game without having to spend hours practising. Even though that means dumbing games down and possibly making them too easy. I do agree that some older games are better than new games.
