The original "This Thread is Currently About" is back! Yes, it's Count to 100!

HOW TO PLAY

1. Count by ones from 1 to 100 in 100 consecutive posts according to the Core Rules.
2. Restart the count from 1 after:
a. a Moderator (or an Administrator) makes a stopping post (post without counting) if users and Knights are counting..
b. a user or Knight or Warden makes a stopping post (post without counting) if Moderators and Administrators are counting.
c. breaking a core rule, spamming, or cheating.
d. reaching 100.
3. Announce why you restart the count so other counters don't get confused.
NOTE: For the time being, Moderators are allowed to help Users count, so as long as the other rules are observed you do not need to restart the count if you see a mod count. However, if a Moderator makes a stopping post, i.e. a post without counting (not the same as a non-count post since they're technically different teams), it is considered an interruption and the count will restart.

CORE RULES

No mistakes. A count must start from 1 and increase by ones up to 100, save for exceptions noted.
No double-counting. No counter may count two consecutive numbers.
No back-to-back counting. No two counters may alternate for more than three consecutive numbers.
Okay: P1 P2 P1 P3
Not Okay: P1 P2 P1 P2
Okay: P1 P2 reset P1 P2
No editing. No counter may edit their post. If an edit tag shows on a count, the attempt is forfeit.

ADDiTiONAL RULES

No "spamming". Please don't post only the number and please don't post gibberish, either.
Multiple one- or two-word counts may also disqualify a count.
No "cheating". This shouldn't need to be said. Counting to 100 doesn't count if you cheat.
This is an exercise in teamwork, not rule bending.
No "spoiling". Don't mess with the count. Posts should start with the correct number.
Posts with no numbers should be ignored. See also: No non-counts.
Posts with intentional mistakes should be ignored.
No "spilping". If this is your first post in this thread, please post "I'm new and here to count to 100!"
No non-counts. No counter may post without a counting number or make a post without bolding that number if that counting number is not at the start of the post.

COMPLETE SET OF RULES
Please refer to the complete set of rules for additional information and examples of what is valid or invalid.
DiSCUSSiON THREAD
Please also check out the discussion thread for new gameplay or rule proposals or general discussion on the gameplay and rules of "Count to 100".

END GAME

Once you reach 100, you start this Sisyphean task all over again back at 1. Users should notify the Commissioner of the Count (HahiHa) that the count reached 100 and the Commissioner will review it to make sure there were no mistakes or cheating. If there were no mistakes or cheating, then the users who took part in the successful count to 100 will get a shiny new Quest!

3. It wouldn’t be that bad, Kali. Your robo-counterpart would be a perfect part of a perfect organism/machine. But seriously, you’re waaay cooler than that.

Fully automated luxury communism is a system leading to the rise of the machines. No need to worry though, Google designs AI and counter-AI simultaneously.

4. Nah, no need to worry, humans are actually better than robots, even though AI exists, it would never be able to try to enslave us or anything like that, so no need to worry about a future robot rebellion, Young Mortals

Now, let's colonize space! we've been in space since this topic started and thanks to our nice technology that allowed us to travel faster than light, we're next to an Earth-like planet which is very likely habitable for us...

So... we'll go down there, let's ONLY continue the colonizing mission if there is NO intelligent life there, if you find any kind of rational life down there, let's abort this mission and move to a different planet!

At least one person must stay here in the spaceship... who wants to go down there? PL? Kali? Sciller? Moe? Ha? Unleashed?

And also, no matter what happens, do NOT take out your spacesuits while you're down there, we don't know if there are some deadly insane bacteria or virus down there... or maybe something more weird than that which could kill us...

Be careful, men!

5. From what I heard, there is no such thing as faster than light. Since an object propels when force is there to push it, therefore you will need some force capable of exerting an enormous amount of recoil (like how jet engine works) to be able to go very fast in the space.

So in my conclusion, colonizing Mars and other planets in this solar system is very difficult, but on other stellar system is impossible without spending a very long time to reach there and come back. Oh and spewing light gives no recoil so you won't go light speed just by using a big lamp.

6. Oh, come on! Fine then! If we can't go faster than light... First we have to bend space-time! Let's find a narcissist! *pat pat* The world revolves around you, Stephen, yes it does. Yes it does.

Boom. We just bent space-time. Now we need to rupture it! Let's divide 5 by zero! There we go, a nice little black hole. Now we just slip through.

Well, we're here, but we should probably get rid of that black hole so we don't, you know, die. Nothing a little Flex Tape® can't fix! We're here! YAY!

Oh, right, Stephen... *Takes out a 1911 and shoots Stephen*

Now may I suggest the cat to go first? Just in case there aren't any diseases or French? I mean, same thing.

7. Actually, light does have radiation pressure, and therefore recoil on emission. It's tiny.

Now on to business. *goes to loudspeaker*
Attention Red Team: Please present your signed liability waivers to Ensign Doorman and prepare to disembark! Let me also remind you that you are to keep your special issue Red Team environment suits on at all times. These are easily identified by their bright red shirt tops. Good luck ... Oh, and have a happy retirement in two weeks everyone.

You guys worry too much. This'll go off without a hitch, just watch.

1. ^ Good job, we were getting sooo close.

@armorplayergc let’s say the technology provides enough recoil to break the speed of light. How come the ship can travel without being destroyed? And how things inside it can remain unbroken? Especially, I mean those squishy things 0_0

*glances over a waiver* I don’t know, maybe I should call a counselor? 0_o

2. No black holes? No? Well, fine by me! You can go wreck the whole ship if you want to! But NoOOOOOOoooo. It's NOT OK to kill people. But it's perfectly OK to commit suicide by burning up in the middle of nothingness.

3. I don’t think wormholes could be safe for traveling. But come to think of it, they might be priceless for communication. If speed of light’s the limit, we would have 11 years of lag when chatting with Ross 128b.

4. That would mean we would get about 9 messages in our entire lifetime. That's a pretty depressing conversation.

5. Yup, but that’s for descendants to care about. New Horizons would fly there circa 203K years. It’s 2nd on the list of habitable exoplanets (3rd if people counter stellar wind).

6. Alright, hear me out. Giant Lasers.
Oh, wait, speed of light's the limit. Welp.

Wait, no. The universe is flat, right? So why don't we just find a black hole and build a bridge over it? Look at this handy picture!

8. Well... we actually used what Sciller told us to use... you know... we would LITERALLY need infinite energy to reach the speed of light... here are some numbers assuming that our spaceship's mass is 10^8 (100,000,000)kg:

If we used as much energy as the entire humanity used in 2014 (21,776,088,770,300kWh) ONLY to accelerate our ship, and not considering any form of energy losses, we would be able to reach an AMAZING, IMPRESSIVE, INCREDIBLE, AWESOMELY-HIGH... ~0.4177% of the speed of light

Yes... less than half of 1% of it

However, if we were able to use all the energy that the Sun generates in 1 second, not considering losses again, we would be able to accelerate from 0 all the way up to ~99.975% of the speed of light

Man... I was thinking that the Sun wouldn't be able to accelerate us a lot because of how the formula for the energy works... but I got surprised after I did the calculations o.o

https://i.imgur.com/12fOPZ5.png

The graphic shows how much energy (in Joule) is required to accelerate from 0 to x% of lightspeed, lines 5 and 6 are the opposite, they show what % of lightspeed you can reach using that amount of energy. Last line is how much energy (in J) the Sun produces in 1 second.

Just look at the red line... it just literally goes all the way up to infinity before reaching 100

9. Well, you could try using total energy conversion to get there at exactly 1c, but you'd need a way to reverse the process at the end. Or, if that doesn't work, we could just use all these tachyonic probes lying around to do the exploring for us.
