umm...Linkin Park is one of the most popular bands in the world (aside from Deftones!), while I don't think many people have ever even heard of 'Saliva'. So I'll go with Linkin Park.
While when Saliva makes a good song, it's one h*ll of a song, Linkin Park made an ENTIRE CD of hits, then followed it up with 2 CD's with 3-4 enjoyable tracks (We don't speak of the remix disks, especially the one with Jay-Z).
If we're ignoring their 187 days, LP has more good songs in less total songs(again, excluding remixes) and less years. They get my vote.
Linkin Park is a lot better, Saliva has one good song while LP has a ton. I think some of their songs did get softer, but they had some good harder ones too. This album is just probably their softest yet.
Have you not listened to No More Sorrow or Given Up? It's not a crime for a band to expand into softer music, and they're still giving fans the power they want within it. On top of that, shouldn't bands be rated by overall accomplishment not recent work?
By those standards, legendary bands like Aerosmith, AC/DC, etc. would be considered much less than newer one hit wonders.
