I belong to the a-famed club: The Zombie Survival Club, this is the story of my character and his first-hand experience of the survival of the fittest.

Prologue:

Knocking. On my door, it's 2:31... 'H..h..Hello?' I mutter... nothing but a slight groan. 'Ok...' I slide out of bed and stumble to the door. Pausing for a second to scream at my Mom, I swing the door open. 'MOM!... Mom!?' 'You look... Ahhh!' Next thing I know I'm on the ground and my Mother is literally trying to tear me apart. Overcome by panic and fear I reach out for something, anything. Lamp, good. I swing as hard as I can, grunts, then silence. I get up and run down the stairs, adrenaline pulsing through my veins. Outside is deserted, lights are out homes empty, they look pillaged.

Chapter 1: Food and Guns.

'What the...' I run back inside, the information from video games telling me what to do. Food? Check! Sandwiches, nah. I grab all canned food, as much as I can find. Weapons? Where? When Dad left, he left his rifle that oughta do. 7 rounds, not bad. Thirty minutes pass, I'm sure I'm ready. I step out the door and... across the street, a figure slightly hunched ,groaning, like they're pained. Alarmed I raise the rifle, 'Eh...eh...Excuse me... s..sir' I stammer sounding less brave then I'd like. 'Eghhh' the figure turns to me, drooling... blood!? And it charges, well limps and slowly comes my way covering enough ground for me. 'STOP!'...'STOP!!' Click. Click-click-click. Fire darnit! The... thing is almost on me... I whip the gun and crack its butt on the side of his... erm, it's head. I'm gonna kill myself if I don't disengage safety.

Day 1 After the Apocalypse. I've successfully turned my house into somewhat of a comfortable barricade. Not many zombies around... it's about 10 below. I'm freezing. I'm going to need supplies soon including ammo, even other weapons. Food is at the top of my list, 7 cans. Beefaroni and assorted vegetables. Not much, but today isn't the greatest day but I'm sure there will be minimal zombies.
After a quick nap, I'm ready to go. I bundle up as heavily I can and set off. After 1 minute of walking I realize I don't know where any stores are. Quick look at my scouted map I see there is two stores within walking distance but the nearest gun store is too far for today. I head off to the Savings 101 store. 'That could be a problem' I mutter as I gaze over a large parking lot with minimal cars to cover behind. I scan around quickly and sprint, duck, sprint, then duck again. It almost became systematic until I heard some noises. I perk up and scan like a dog. Nothing... again some noises. 'Oh no.' I say as I realize where it's coming from. The store! I run to the door, military style and press my back onto the wall. I peer inside but see nothing. It's pitch black in that store... I'll have to find the generator. I sprint out back to scout for an entrance. Luckily one of the shipping bay doors is about three feet off the ground... I'm sure I can squeeze in. Whipping out a small but powerful enough key-chain flashlight I begin my search.
Turning the flashlight on and off in intervals to save battery power, I push forward. Large boxes of goods, and a large garage area. It seems I'm in the unpacking area. I look around for some clue to get to the genny. 'Employee lounge, no. Boxing Directory Office, no. Where the... oh.'Maintenance Controls'. I walk over to the heavy metal door and give the handle a turn. 'Locked' I kick the door which makes a large banging noise. '****! My toe!, I turn around only to stare into the blank white eyes of a zombie. It lunges and I side-step but too slowly. It pulls me by my arm to the floor as it rips my top-coat sleeve to shreds. Before he could penetrate further I kneed it in the face, shattering its nose. Though temporarily stunned I knew it would attack again. So I jumped up and grabbed for my rifle. 'Oh NO!', I thought, 'It fell off!' I slid my hand across the ground, my hand skimmed something hard. 'Yes! I grab it and pull but it won't budge. I look up and see a zombie stepping on the gun. I wince and wait for the attack but it doesn't come. I look up and notice it doesn't know where I am. 'Think, think!' I try hard to think of a plan. 'Oh!' I reach into my pocket and pull out a rifle bullet, I need this but for something different right now! As quickly and quietly as I can I throw it across the room. As I knew it would it made a noise causing the 4 Zombies, as far as I could tell from the footsteps, to move away. I pick up the rifle and do what I had to. 'Two more shells.' I have to save these.
Sweat. I have so much of it right now from trying to get the generator to work. It seems no matter what I do it won't turn on. It has gas and is in perfect working condition. What is wrong. Frustrated I turn and see a console with many buttons and gismos I've never seen. Hrm. 'Power Switch: On/Off. That oughta be it. I flick the switch and the generator kicks into life. Now we are getting somewhere!
