Mine would have to be Opeth. Mikael Akerfeldt has an amazing voice, that can go from beautiful clean singing to a beastly growl instantly. Not to mention that his voice is the same live. Fantastic talent. All songs are extremely epic, and you can never get bored of them, as they are always changing. They also happen to be the band that got me into metal, so that boosts them up as well.
Metallica did not start metal, but they did do lots to get metal to the masses.
My favourite metal bands? Yay, I cam share with others! -System Of A Down -Rob Zombie/White Zombie -DevilDriver -Slipknot -Amon Amarth -Disturbed(Only a few songs) -Sepultura(Same as above) -Hatebreed(See Above) -Lamb Of God(Look up)
And...that about raps it up. And metal is not even my favourite genre. ^_^
Bring Me the Horizon is deathcore, as in STILL METAL. Just a tip to all of you metal-experts, just because mainly 14 year old scene kids listen to it doesn't mean it's not metal, regardless of how much you agree with it or not. Musical qualities give the genre what it's about, not the fanbase. Metal today is a bastard deviation from the original heavy metal, if you are going to say that something like Lamb of God or even Pantera isn't metal, for Christ's sake, you might as well say that any other metal with a teenage fanbase/deviates from their influences isn't real metal.

ok three days grace is mine there pretty good rockers (except for pain which is a sad song) they have a good voice nice electric guitar solos and they can get heavy
Metallica no doubt..especially ride the lightning and battery..battery and welcome home(sanitarium) have a good intro. and sad but true are there best to me.
