The picture of Spore is way too big, try checking for the size before you post it and it's alright, seems fun and making new life into a little portable game. It's our style of nature Eh!
so on topic, I've had Spore for about a week now and indeed I've had a lot of fun with it. I've made 3 different creatures and taken them all the way to Space. 1 herbivore (shaman), 1 omnivore (trader), and 1 carnivore (warrior).
With my omnivore I've "beaten" the game or more accurately I should say I've earned the highest title possible through the badges.
Likes: Very nice customization as far as creatures, buildings, and vehicles are concerned.
Help/hint tutorial throughout the game made it simple and easy to play and understand without the need of the in box manual.
Near seamless transitions, meaning very little to almost no load times in between much of anything. Most noticeable during the space area while flying from planet to planet, system to system, but so slight that it doesn't cause much of a headache.
The cause and effect system they have through all stages of the game is also a nice if unoriginal facet of the game.
Dislikes:
Having to pick up body parts during creature stage and not carrying over to another creature later on got kind of annoying and tedious... ultimately though this didn't matter because in later stages these parts were merely ornamental anyway.
Pirates... annoying and pointless, once your empire in space stage gets to a certain point they're nothing more than flies that cause "notice spam" in the end it'd be nice if there was a way to eliminate the problem all together. With such low health they're almost not worth bothering with, especially when they're running and I don't want to take the time to bother at all. I've got a 50 star system empire to run, what's 1 or 2 pirate attacks?
Stages 1-4 are really just a formality for space stage. In other words they have very little true impact on what happens in space stage other than your title and special ability. Titles can be changed later on and it's kind of silly that you only get 1 bonus per title in which you spent 2-6 hrs developing the species.
Overall:
This game was well worth the buy despite my dislikes and more than because of my likes. As a whole this game is very detailed, lots of fun and a bit of a time sink. I dunno who else might like such a game but this was a definite win in my book. I'm sure I'll have this game installed for a long time... not quite to StarCraft or Diablo 2 level :P those two games I've re-installed countless times and still pick back up.
Spore is a game that's fun because you decide everything, how the game is and how to be good, evil or neutral. you create your own vehicles. creator of Spore must be ingenious!
I bought this game 2 days ago. But my disk drive is really bad. Can't read DVD-ROM format. Because there is nothing wrong with the actual game I can't even get store credit for it! Going to have to buy a brand new disk drive!
