That's debatable. Ever studied the Civil War at all? If you did, you would know that the Emancipation only "freed" slaves from the South, and was used as one of the greatest political ploys in history.
It gave the Union a just cause for fighting the South, and kept countries like England and France from acknowledging that the Confederacy was an actual country.

You really seem to know your stuff, but I don't think slavery was the absolute worst thing that ever happened.
I agree. Slavery is the worst thing to happen to humans. The worst this to happen in earth was the creation of the Nuclear Bomb, giving a single species of mortal animals the ability to blow up planets. The development did happen underground, so it can be considered IN earth.
