Many, many successful fictions are turned into video games, as are real world events, such as WWII; so, whether you believe the Bible to be fact or fiction (not the discussion here), why is it not a video game?

The reason is likely that it would be highly controversial. The best way to circumvent this issue would be by making the game true to the Bible. No additional information or characters would be included, nor would the game attempt to dictate what was fact or fiction, nor would it inturprate the meaning of any events. That way, the player could draw what ever conclusion he wanted to from the experience, making it as meaningful or pointless as he wished.

Another issue with such a game would be the content. Not only in terms of rating, but in terms of game play. What genre would this game fall in? The Bible seems to have a little bit of everything. I personally believe that RPG might be the best ticket, but character progression would be an issue due to the many playable characters that would be necessary to accommodate the many books of the Bible.

Discussion points:
Why is their no Bible game?
Would you find a Bible game neat or offensive? How would religious groups react?
How could such a game be made in a way that stayed true to the subject matter but was still fun to play?

I'm sorry about my grammar, it's pretty rough in places and I'm too lazy to fix it.

It would make an awesome RPG! Just think of it.
COOL! I just found the trumpet! Now I can crush the walls of Jericho! Awesomeness!
Or. . . .
AWESOME! I just leveled up from a level 19 water-walker to a level 20 bearded prophet! Yes! Now, should I put my skill points to level up my Fishers of Men skill, my Divine Intervention skill, or just increase my facial hair attribute?
------------
I don't see how it could be offensive. It would be awesome! And the final boss could be the Antichrist, and he would have an attack that would deal 666 damage every turn, and would be able to raise the temple of Babylon in front if him for protection or something.

because other religions would think its dissing there religion i know you might think well why doesn't the other religions just keep their yap shut but the truth is all other religions over power christians (not dissing because i am 1) a couple of years ago someone had a christian cross on at an airport. she was forced to take it of as it was disrespectful to other religions. but let me ask you one question why cant the other religions take of their religious symbles???? because in the goverments eyes forein countries religions are more importent then their home counties. i think that christians should get equal religious
rights!!!!!

I think a Bible game would be too hard to make. I think this because, both sides (religious and nonreligious) would both get angry. Religous people might say you're not doing it right and making God's word into a game would degrade him. And the nonreligous people would get mad too, because, they just plain out don't like that sort of stuff and would take it slighly offensive.

Heh, it's kinda funny, plenty of posts here mention bible games that I've NEVER heard of before. I'm a pretty average gamer so the fact that these games went without my noticing must mean they're either terrible, or no one cares about them.

Yes, I've seen this game before, where instead of killing things, you convert them. The funny thing is that you carry a sword...
