I'm sorry but your comparing apples and oranges.Those two games are complete opposites except for the fact that you have to survive attacks by Zombies, and you have to rely on your teammates saving you from Zombies frequently
Left 4 Dead- Run and Gun zombie shooting games where all the zombies die easily,and you have plenty of ammo to go around,it barely pays attention to any type of plot,but is all around fun because of all the zombie killing going on.
Resident Evil 5-going by the demo it is a slow paced shooting and slashing game,where you have very little ammo to go on,and the zombie are not as easy to kill.
Really its just a matter of what type of game you like.
Left4Dead is one of the bests games you can get on the Xbox360. It's fast-paced,has a lot of zombies,the story line is great (because it's got five of them)and you have lots of ammo. With that great combination you can have so much FUN!!! (and if you do get Left4Dead, the auto shotgun is probably the best weapon,killing all zombies in one hit except for the witch and tank.)

I don't remember an auto-shotgun in that game,but I am guessing you are talking about the second shotgun that isn't a pump shotgun which has a slow firing rate.Either way renting them both is a good idea so you know which you will like more,if either of them for that matter.
Left 4 dead is a good game, but asking wich one to get is like compairing apples to oranges. The gamplay between each game is entirely different. RE5 runs smooth and L4D is a run and gun pumped up on adrenaline.
I'm gonna say Left 4 Dead but that's only because I hate the way all the resi games play. Plus I always wanted a game with zombies using group tactics.
Both are very good games in their own right. I'd have to side with RE5 for its storyline, its amazing replayability, and overall epic boss battles. L4D does have better horror values though, but RE5 is not exactly the survival horror of its predecessors.
LEFT 4 DEAD ALL THE WAY BUT DEAD SPACE IS WAY BETTER FUNNER AND CREEPIER THEN BOTH AND THE GRAPHICS ARE SO FREGGIN SICK ITS A SWEET GAME BUT YA LEFT 4 DEAD.
