My favorite instrument is an electric guitar. Drums would be my second favorite.

I'd have to go with the guitar as well, if only for the range of play styles that it has. It is the most versatile instrument.

Since this isn't asking which instrument is my favorite (technically). This is asking what kind of instrument is my favorite. I like any instrument that can touch my feelings and sounds good.
