I wanna know if you guys and gals think they should make an xbox portable. I myself am not sure because they would need to make it really big and bulky because of all the stuff that would have to go into it....plus...how would you get LIVE....the same as a DS?
Well, it would require significant development cost & investment - and it certainly won't do well on it's first iteration. Nintendo dominates the handheld market & Sony has cut out a piece for itself with the PSP. It was like with the release of the Xbox; there was a significant loss introducing the console, however in their second generation with the 360, they have managed to succeed very well financially.
So, it could be a foot in the door that won't do very well, but may pick up speed with further generations of it.. given the current market status though, I'd highly doubt they will release a handheld gaming system at this time.
It wouldn't necessarily have to be big and bulky either - it could just work off of games available on the X-box Live Arcade; in which case, it could be quite small & compact. It could connect to Live from any public/unsecured wireless AP.
No, I really don't think there should be, because it will compromise the graphics (IMO) a lot. Look at how bad the PSP failed, currently as hidden distance said, the DS dominates the market (DSi even has cameras and stuff...) If Xbox were to give up its lead in the console market and tap into the hand held market, I would say their economists will not agree to the high risk low profit move. It is better to develop better games than to develop a shoddy system and have to make it up with cheap and probably shoddy games.
There's no point, Nintendo has it nailed down already and the PSP can give you all the things the DS can't. Die hard Xbox fans might buy it because of it's relation to the console but really there isn't much chance for it to do well. They should stick the 360 series and do what they can with that.
When ever I need to move my xbox, I pack it up, wires and all my paddles into a lap-top case, it all fits perfectly, and take it to my friends house to have a halo party, or splinter cell.
It would be cool, but also be very obvious they're copying Sony. I would say Nintendo too, but they came up with the handheld idea way before everyone else so it's a bit different.
the only better thing that microsoft could do is make a wider screen with better graphics and have both of them as touch screens... that is about it really.
I think it'd ruin it. The Xbox works well as a console, and to make a hand held would be pointless, since the only reason people might buy it with PSP and DS out is for Xbox only games, which wouldn't play well on a hand held. I mean, Halo on a tiny screen with difficult controls and poor graphics? Not worth it
