In terms of nostalgia value nothing will ever be "better" than my original NES. I spent hundreds of hours playing games that don't hold my attention for more than 20 minutes any more. I doubt I'll ever get my SNES or Sega systems down from the attic again and I haven't broken out the Atari in over a decade.
In terms of the depth and quality of games I've played and enjoyed my 360 is the overall winner. The PS3 just collects dust and my last slim PS2 finally died last month.
It would be hard for me to pick one. (Warning. Wall of text.)
- The NES has some of the games I am most fond of: Dragon Warrior 1, 3, and 4; Super Mario Bros. series; Zelda II... - The Nintendo 64 has a few good games too (I am kind of critical) : Zelda: Majora's Mask; Paper Mario; Super Mario 64; Star Fox 64; Kirby 64; and Zelda: Majora's Mask. - Playstation has Grandia; Final Fantasy Origins, 4, 7; Chrono Trigger (SNES/DS is better) ; Crash Bandicoot (Spent many hours playing the series with my family years ago)... - Playstation 2 has Grandia II, Shadow of the Colossus, Kindom Hearts series, Dragon Quest 8... - DS has Dragon Quest V. Enough Said. Okay, it also has Elite Beat Agents; Dragon Quest 4, 6; Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime; Kirby Super Star Ultra; Master of the Monster Lair...
I've played and own many consoles like Atari 2600-7200, PS1-PS2-PS3, Xbox, 360, NES, Super Nintendo, etc, etc and I would have to go with the PS2, it had a great game selection and really set a newer benchmark in 3D graphics for an affordable gaming console.
i have a sega mega drive a ps2 (with ps games) most gameboys and a wii. when it comes to nostalgia i will have to go with the sega. my whole childhood is based on that (it still works)
but when i have to choose my fav i would choose the gamecube. i never even had a gamecube so when i discovered my wii can play gamecube games i bought some games i always wanted and could never play. even though i only have 3 games for that console i still have to pick it
The Playstation, PS2, Xbox, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Dreamcast. All of these consoles focused on gaming and they last a really long time. I miss the times when consoles were focused solely on gaming and they lasted long.
i would have to say that the snes and nes were groundbreaking in the video game world and then the next best thing would be the ps2 for the game selection and the intro to the newer wave of video games. and i also like the N64
