I tried to earn a merit in How to raise a dragon
Here is my text

1)IDEA: this game is something completely new. There are no games like this.I especally love the breathes.
10 points for the idea

2)GRAPHIC: I really hate the old graphic style. I think it would be much nicer if the game had better graphics!!!
2 points for Graphic

3)CONTROLS:I think that the controls are not very well made.Z for jumping?! Couldnt the make simply the up button for it?
Also breathe should be on strg-right and bite should be on shift key. But the controls are ok they are not very complicated.
6 points for controls

4)OBJECTIVE: This game has no truly objektiv so I will write a bit about the course of the game. You are a dragon that grows up until it has fully grown. Then you must move the hero and decide if the dragon should stay alive or die or if the hero should die....

5)NAME: The name describes the game very accurate
10 points for the name

6)MUSIC: Thre is nonly music when a descrption appears so i wont rate that little music.

7)SOUNDEFFECTS: The twittering of birds is very well made it sounds pretty real.
10 points for the sound effect

8)LOADING: It loads pretty fast
10 points

9)DIFFICULTY: The game is easy-too easy
5 points

10)SUMMARY: All in all great game and very. Best regards to all flash game fans!!
9 points for the whole game

Do you think its good? What can I make better?

I wonder what's a merit after all. I usually write comments too compact and too pell-mell to be worthy of anything, so if merits are given for structurizing a comment, then this might be worthy of one.

There are alot of spelling mistakes, but apart from that, I think your comment is worthy of a merit.

The mods don't like you to number things, from what I've read is that they want it in one-three paragraphs. Grammatical an Punctuation mistakes in there too, mods don't like that either. If you could make this into a flowing paragraph, minus the mistakes, I'd say it was Merit worthy.

Umm, the best way to earn a merit is to write one on your own and don't ask. So you must do it by yourself as stated from one of the merits FAQ answered.

No because you asked if it's merit worthy. That pretty much crashes your hopes.

Well, placing it in a thread on the Forums would only serve to make it more visible and attract the attention of the mods/admins, and hence even if the intentions were not there, it would be considered 'asking' them. There were such threads before in the Tavern, they got locked, plus no one got the merits.

You write a review that is merit-worthy, not a merit. Just think of it that way. A merit is just a reward if the mods/admins see it.

I think its worth a merit but since you post this in the forums doubt you'll receive one. Check the Newcomers Forum in Merit Question Answered..."How do I receive a merit?
By not asking!" at the end of your comment you were asking which earned a merit..so in the end you really got none.

Why is the Merit such a big deal anyway? I mean, aren't we all here to play some great games?

If I saw that I would vote it up. Well, would have, since that feature was removed.

I would rather have comments short and too the point, easier to read.

I agree with Gogo. Except I hate comments that say things like: "GAY!" or "VERY GAY!" or "STUPID!" or "LAME" or anything along those lines. I don't understand why people would even bother commenting if all they want to do is write something like that!

there are a few typos but if u post it at the game itself it could recieve a merit

Not often you find that. Though some games really need to have reviews in order to be thoroughly reviewed.

Me too.

What nichodemus said is true indeed. I was actually there when those threads were still in existence. I also posted one of my reviews there. I was told by a mod that since my comment was there in the forums, she wouldn't give me a merit.

So if you have a comment you think is merit worthy, please don't post it here. It is considered the same as asking a moderator for a merit.

Let the mods find your comments.

To tell you the truth, it isn't considered merit-worthy to me. Why? A sentence per section will not suffice. And most of them are merely statements like,

5)NAME: The name describes the game very accurate

Which in a review, isn't going to help much. I mean, giving ten points for a name would be irrelevant.

Or

7)SOUNDEFFECTS: The twittering of birds is very well made it sounds pretty real.
10 points for the sound effect

Based merely on one sound effect, it would achive a ten? That's slightly unbelievable.

Or

10)SUMMARY: All in all great game and very. Best regards to all flash game fans!!
9 points for the whole game

Words such as great and good will not do. You have to explain why it was good, and not merely based on music and such.

A merit worthy comment does not just rely on having many short repetitive sentences in a large number of sections. it would be better to focus solely on a few. Music, gameplay, achivements (if applicable), graphics and the like.

Though I've written only a few reviews, most of them were awarded with a merit. The longest was 700 words, and the shortest 400. Just a tip, if you write merely for the sake of a merit, the review would be hard to write. Rather, write if you really feel like doing a review. I should probably link it to one of them, but I'm afraid someone might copy....
