I don't know how advertisements are added with the site. But recently, i got an advertisement with a little character of death that laugh every minute (a french advertisement). I don't care about playing with advertisements and even click on them if interested but i always mute game sounds and listen music. I've refreshed the page more than 10 times and still get this one so i end with web developer to open the game in a separated window without advertisement.
Is this possible to avoid this kind of noisy advertisements ? Or perhaps this is to long to check all of them !?
Try getting pop up blocker or ad blocker. That usually does the trick. And instead of muting just the game sound, why not just mute Internet sound? At least on Windows computers you can open up the volume mixer and turn down IE (Firefox, whatever you use) sounds. I do the same as you; pull up Itunes and play games with the sound muted.
