Rockband first introduced the drums and keyboard. Therefore, it's better and always has been. GH tried to implement and ultimately copy the idea of drumming as they added that feature in Guitar Hero World Tour among the majority of the titles thereafter.
^This. I'm a drummer, so I don't get much enjoyment out of playing a cheap false guitar to a song I hardly know, but I can appreciate playing along to a song I hardly know with a cheap false drum kit.

Funny story, I actually started drumming after playing the drums from Rock Band. I started out pretty bad at them. But as I got better and better, my hand-eye coordination improved significantly and as I got to the expert-level, I could do basically everything that you'd be able to do on a real drum set, with the exception of double pedal.
So, I then bought me a drum set. And I've been playing on and off casually for about 4 years now.
I wish I still had Rock Band. My drum set for it broke a while back and I've never gotten around to buying a new one. Even if you're not a fan of rhythm-based games, I'm sure you'd be able to find some sort of enjoyment in it.
