sigh... i personally prefer the ps3 (games, hardware, FREE online) but i understand some ppl like the xbox games better and their friends prbly have xboxs too, but when ppl say that the xbox has better graphics that rly irritates me. if you cant acknowlege the fact that the ps3 is graphically superior then you are a hopeless fanboy or an idiot who doesnt know what they're talking about. actually most games are almost identical due to the fact that they are multiplatform. but MGS4 kicks the sh** out of halo3 in terms of graphics. (and every other aspect but thats just imo)
I think I read somewhere that the 360 is getting close to its limit, but the PS3 is miles away from its limit due to the fact that it has its RAM split into two pieces of 256 MB(total 512MB RAM) one piece for the GPU and one piece for for the CELL processors. While the 360 has one piece of 512 MB RAM which is accessed through the GPU (This puts much stress on the GPU).
The PS3 has 7 CELL processors (one is reserved for the PS3 OS) CELL processors can normally not be measured against normal CPUs. The 360 has a tri-core Xenon cpu (I've never understood why they didn't choose a basic quad-core cpu instead of paying IBM to develop the tri-core).
Anyway both consoles have a PowerPC chip, but Microsoft basically stole the idea of having the PowerPC chip in the console from Sony.
The 360 uses basic dual-layer dvds around 8.5GB(and don't come saying the 360 uses HD-DVD nativly because everyone knows you must buy the extra HD-DVD drive), But the PS3 uses blu-ray discs, single layer blu-ray disc has the capacity of 25GB, a dual layer has 50GB capacity, for a half year ago or something Pioneer I think developed a 16 layer blu-ray disk with the capacity of 400GB, a newly developed technology which uses gold nano tubes gives you the capacity of 1TB or 1.5TB I don't remember correctly
The 360 uses a hard-drive made by Micorsoft I think, most capacity they give is 120GB. With the PS3 you can go to your local store that sells hard-drives and ask for a standard 500GB 2.5 inch SATA hard-drive(mostly used by laptops and PS3s) and format it to FAT32 then put it into the PS3 and play (in some years they will release 1TB SATA 2.5 inch hard-drives)
If you understand this thec/PC talk you should under stand that the PS3 has much better graphics to unleash.
The PS3 has the best graphic potentional. End of story.
(This is not copy pasted i took my time to write this totally by myself!)
PS3 has the best graphics if the game is a PS3 exclusive. Although if its for both XBox 360 and PS3 (Wii is not worth noting because it's a thread about graphics) xbox 360 is better, very strange.
1984chevy you're right on that the 360 only upscales games to 1080p but the PS3 can acctually put out 1080p on two channels (even though most games now uses only 720p, most upcoming games for the PS3 will use 1080p).
uber1 that's because they make the game for the 360 first and doesn't take time to port it correctly to the PS3.
I would have to go for XBOX 360 or the PS3 but the Wii........ Doesn't have much of a chance. You would want graphics to look real for Madden 2010 but instead the Wii goes ahead and makes Cartoon graphics. I go for PS3 Or XBOX 360.
The price factor for me would matter. But i have an xbox 360 and its a great system and all but the PS3 has probably better graphics and also if you have a PS3 you wont have to pay online fees you dont have to pay for online gaming.

Right! I remember my friend told me that back in the day. Price shouldn't matter because my PS3 is more dependable on lasting compared to 360, which if you don't have a warranty cost $100 to send in and fix and a long wait. Personally I have to say PC ftw, but since that's not an option
If people think that the Xbox brakes easier or that the Xbox has less games is doesn't really matter. The only reason if your Xbox is breaking is that you don't take care of it, simple enough. If you do take care of your Xbox 360 well then all i can say is that you might have gotten the red ring of death which is simply just an Xbox thing but it just means that you've played of 10,000 ours of gaming, simple enough. If your Xbox is still breaking and none of thing happened to yours well then all i can say is DON'T HAVE YOUR XBOX STANDING UP, IT RUINS YOUR XBOX AND THE GAME DISCS. I have a Wii and an Xbox 360 wii loses badly and the 360 comes in second because ps3 is better.

I'm not saying this has happened to me, it happened to my friend and he takes pretty good care of his xbox. His is also on the side.

I take care of mine very well and it has lasted a very long time and all of my friends that complain that there Xbox is breaking barley take care of their box so I think that maintenance has a lot do with it breaking. I have said this before their are websites that tell you how to fix the red ring of death. (dont ask me what they are I have never been in one of them.)
I like both Xbox and Ps3 they both have their ups and downs but the wii has to many faults. LOL
No matter what the two companies that make Playstation and Xbox will keep making consoles and keep making them better that each other so it will always be one or another
