Rock band, Guitar hero is just a really bad franchise that is not good and it's only way of selling it to release loads of games, when they could just make downloads.
Yeah there is a difference. Guitar Hero 1 and 2 were the best, but after some creators left to work on Rock Band, new people took over and made the games even worse. Song choice in some GH games are horrible.

Actually Neversoft bought the rights to Guitar Hero and Red Octane (Creators of Guitar Hero) Went on to Rock Band. Sorry i had to fix that, It was bothering me. Just wanna make sure everyone gets the right facts
But definetly Rock Band because Red Octane is the god of instrument games and it has better songs and its just way more fun to play!
Wow, there are so many of these in every site with a forums it is now more popular than actually having a forum in the first place! If there isn't a forum, people still find some way of putting it on there. But I say Guitar Hero. The 2nd one was the first rythem game I ever played and as soon as I got through Expert on 2 and 3, 4 and Rock Band just seemed way to easy. I'd say that Rock Band is better if you're a first timer, you're not that good at guitar/drums/etc. games, or you have more than 1 friend with any skill at holding a guitar. Guitar Hero's better if you want a challenge, you have less than 2 friends to play with that don't mind ripping their fingers into shreds, or if you are bored with Rock Band's seemingly all alike songs, despite the many bands and versions, or if you're angry at something and you want to blow off some steam. But I personally (this post is getting longer than I meant to and I'm too lazy to scroll up) prefer Guitar Hero 2 and 3.
