Depends on if its an EP or not...if its supposed to be full length I want at least 9 songs, unless you're a metal band and have long songs, then 7-ish would be good.
Alot of the time with good bands, the first album ends up being one of their best.
Totally disagree. Loads of great bands have had first albums that were just ok, then they break out with a follow up album, or they have to wait a long time to become popular.

Just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good. I dislike most of the super popular bands that people think of when I say "rock", and yet it's the genre I typically like most.
