I have always wonders where and how Halloween start, some of my friends say it started in England, and some of my other friends say it started in Ireland. I'm very curious on what reason Halloween started, any suggestions?

It originated as a Pagan holiday that originated in Ireland. The pagans celebrated it at the beginning of fall and it was sort of sad because it symbolized the ending of the feasts, life and etc.

There is much more to the story, but I don't remember. Look up the episodes on the history channel all about this subject.

The time just before halloween was believe to be the time where the spirit interaction was strongest.
Was made a christian holiday later on (All Hollows/saints eve), and was moved from Ireland to the US with the immigrants that migrated from Ireland during the Great Potato Famine.

I didn't watch it, but I can assume it's some stupid anti-Christian flaming thing? Go back to your little home in the World Events forum, that way you only flame in one forum.

I think it was a Pagan ritual, less of a holiday. Referred to as All Hallow's Eve back then. I'm pretty sure it wasn't happy, but instead more of a &quotrotect your butts from the Lord Samhain" kind of thing, since it was said that he comes to Earth on that night. Masks and costumes worn to hide yourself from him, treats and sweets left out to appease him, well, it led to the holiday we now know. I'm pretty sure the whole thing started up in Ireland, then kind of migrated over here, and was changed by Christians and Catholics(who obviously didn't believe in Samhain).
