I have XP, and don't plan on upgrading to 7. Firstly, because I don't really trust Windows when it comes to new OSs, after Vista. Both the other computers in my house have Vista, and it's a mess. I know Windows 7 was supposed to fix those problems, but I think I'll wait awhile. Secondly, I've been using XP for the past 3 or 4 years, and it's always worked fine. I don't see the point in paying for an OS upgrade, when what I have works fine. I'll get it for free when I buy a new computer sometime, anyway.
My advice would be not to upgrade, until you start having compatibility issues with newly released software.
I have home edition and I really like it. It has alot of cool features and they redid some stuff(paint, the task bar, Word(but this is available for xp and vista so you might already have it), etc.)
I have XP and my computer is slow as anything. I don't know if its the XP or if my sister has too much stuff on it but if i could i would upgrade. It being free just makes it better
I have windows 7 64-bit home premium, I think thats the version I use anyways. It works fine, much better than Vista and with the recent updates much better than XP too. Although I haven't had the time to test it as much as XP I would still recommend Windows 7.
but from what I have heard, it seems as though they are pretty good.
You need to find sites that aren't sponsored by Microsoft. I think windows is decent, but I prefer linux (Ubuntu is the best in my opinion). Windows has its ups and downs, like the fact that windows xp is stable and vista isn't. Windows 7 is pretty good, the only problems I've had so far is that my computer froze twice. It was annoying but probably not the OS's fault.
