Why am I thinking about this so hard?

Hmmm, maybe the line where person ignores elevation confuses people... Let me rewrite the question;

Person A and person B stand next to each other, assume that at this point they are 0 metres apart.
Person A walks 2 metres east.
Person B walks 3 metres south and then walks 2 metres west.
Person A then walks 1 metre closer to person B then climps up a vertical ladder to a floor 3 metres above.
What is the distance between person A and person B? Explain your answer.

The answer to the first question should be nice and round and the answer to the extra definitely should be less than 3 metres to make sense. I shall reveal the answer in a couple of hours.

:::::B this shows A and B are around 4 metres away from each other (i think) A gets a +3 due to height so at an interger im guessing they are 7 Metres apart.

Also i would like to point out that unless person A and B are somehow stuck together. Like literally joined at the hip or something like that then it is impossible for them to be 0 metres apart.

About the meaning of life. That is not a question you would ask as a quiz because each person has to find the meaning of their life (and not everyone does). You could define life in physical or biological terms, but what would be the point?
