So, I've never played World of Warcraft. So in the sense, I'm a noob. I'm getting a new computer for Xmas, and I'm really considering getting into this game. But what I want to know is...
What do I buy? The original game disk "World of Warcraft" or do I buy an expansion? I'm not quite sure on what to buy, because I want to play on the most recent game mode with everyone else...Please help!
Also, before you tell me not to play because its addicting, trust me...I know! I'm addicted to games like Runescape and Maplestory.
Here's what u do: buy nothing. save some money for better things. If you seriously want to buy WOW, go ahead. But you'll be disappointed and throwing your life down the toilet.
ok. you cant play with only an expansion. you need the original (world of warcraft 1 in that sense) first. then you can go on to buy the 2nd expansion : WoW the burning crusade. and then install that. then if you want, you can get wrath of the lich king expansion. and i believe theres another expansion coming called catycalism but its not out yet.
here's what each one is: World of Warcraft (original): can go up to i believe lvl 60. you can choose to be either alliance or horde (i like horde better) with different characters on different realms (servers)note: you can have more than one character on the same realm. here are the different races of characters: alliance: human, dwarf, gnome, night elves and horde: orc, tauren, troll, undead you can also have many different mounts (beasts which you can travel on, which give you more speed) you can also travel by zeppelin. there are also guilds, which can help protect you, help you, and give you stuff. but also help people in your guild if possible. there are also, not to forget, different classes: priest, rogue, warrior, mage, druid, hunter, warlock (my favorite), shaman, paladin.
now: World of Warcraft The Burning Crusade: can go up to lvl 70. there is also a "new world". which you can further explore, and fly to on a zeppelin. new races: alliance: draenei and horde: blood elf (my favorite) also, once you reach lvl 70 i believe, you can have a flying mount. flying mounts vary in speed, but having them makes traveling alot easier and faster. great fun.
and: World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King: can go up to lvl 80. another new place to explore. more flying mounts i believe, and also a new race: the death knights. theyre the most powerfull class in WoW. i love them! they also look extremely cool. but, to have one you need to have atleast one existing character that is lvl 55 or higher.
WoW catycalism i have no idea about anything for it. google it to find out more.
thats it. one minus for wow is all the patches! there is a seriously great lot of patches. but for the rest i really enjoyed it. i stopped playing but i still know alot about it :P hope this helps! its a great game, but extremely addicting! dont let it take up ALL your free time. you still need some friends :P
First of all, I must warn you that WoW will ruin your Life! But if you are too Grainy for it, here's what you will do.
Get WoW Original, then get WoW Burning Crusade, and finally, get WoW: Wrath of the Lich King. In October 2010, WoW: Cataclysm will come out, so you have to get that too when it comes out or it's Bye Bye to WoW.
WoW: Burning Crusade (My Favorite Expansion So Far): -New Races: Draenei and Blood Elf -Flying Mounts -New World: Outland -Transport: Zeppelins, Ships etc. -New Profession: Jewelcraft -Level Cap 70
WoW: Wrath of the Lich King (Almost Ruined WoW, My Opinion): -New Class: Death Knight -New World: Northrend -Improved Cities -Siege Weapons & Destructible Buildings -New Profession: Inscription -Level Cap 80
WoW: Cataclysm (Isn't out yet, wait until October 10, 2010): -New Races: Worgen and Goblin -The Whole world is Changed, making the Deserts to Jungles, making most Jungles split in Half by Lava Rivers...Volcanoes, Thunders, everything like Hell... -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yutECWu2OFg -Level Cap 85
Check Google for More! Trust me, the game is Cool, but I warn you again it may ruin your life like it ruined mine...
lol i agree with Owen big time ;P just dont play the game. it burns your money away when you buy usful stuff for it. Dont get WoW, you get so into the game you cant stop, thats just my reson of saying it
It seems that the hatedom is out in full force today... Time to cut through the propaganda and bigotry.
Just to quickly cover your question, you need the original game to play at all. Burning Crusade allows you to play as Draenei/Blood elf, and get to the Level 60-70 area. Wrath of the Lich King unlocks death knights (you need a 55 to start one, though), and the 70-80 area.
Now, onto the issue of cost... Once the the game/expansions are out of the way, and they aren't all that expensive as far as games go in the first place, you have to pay a 12-15$ monthly subscription. This sounds bad, and leads most people into hasty (extremely flawed) assumptions. Lets look at it this way.
How many games do you own that will keep you entertained for an entire month for 15$? If you answer anything higher than "Zero", I would very much like to find out what they are... But that tangent aside, an MMO is a sound investment that will -save- you money in the long run as you get far more entertainment and game time for your dollar.
$50 for a game that will, at -best-, have ~50 hours worth of stuff to do, or a WoW sub that will even out to ~$15 a month for as much time as you can fit into a month on a game that is constantly updated, tweaked, and improved?
