I just started this today and I almost have fifty, I've been posting on here, meeting some new friends, and enjoying the games. I didn't even really try to get points.

Good then, don't spam for points and they don't really matter okay? Points are just nothing in AG but to show people how much experience you have here.

Not quite. People think that. The experience is that you follow the rules and guidelines. Some people with high amounts of AP spam, that's how they get a bunch of AP. It also doesn't matter how many posts you have, it's about your posts. They have to be solid.
Another experience is the forums. Some people have rated and commented on a bunch of games for points. Just look at the monthly leaderboard. Anybody around 1,300 or more in a month pretty much have spammed. Not necessarily everybody who is over 1,300 in a month, but most. And again, posts have to be solid. That's the experience in the forums, posts have to be solid. (Oh man I said that 3 times. =/)
Many users who join AG go for points quite recklessly. They spam pages and keep on rating games like anything. I do not think points matter that much. I just got 40 points on my first day that too because of forums and a few comments. My forums/comments ratio is almost 1:1.
