If you could have any super power, what would it be and WHY?

I'd like the power to fly since I love flying on planes, so it would be awesome to fly without a plane just all by yourself.

The power to achieve perfect mental peace and happiness. That way I wont have to be like "WELL I WANNA HAVE THIS POWER NOW". I'll just be all happy and peaceful. See, I thought this through.

Would omniscience count as a super power?
And why I would want it? I think that's quite obvious.

It would have to be generation and control of electricity for me. Why?
1) I can stop/create/control thunderstorms
2) I can cure paralyzed people by 'rewiring' their nervous system (assuming it's not completely damaged)
3) With enough knowledge and control, I'll be able to control machines by using precise amounts of electricity in their circuitry.
4) I can instantly kill someone by fucking up their brain :P
5) I could control peoples movements by forcing their nervous system to behave the way I want them to.
6) With a lot of practice, I would be able to send false signals to peoples brains, giving them halucinations.

The power to rearrange matter on the subatomic, atomic, and molecular levels. I could then form elements out of other elements, and essentially change anything into anything else while obeying the laws of conservation of mass.

Omnipotence. The complete knowledge of everything, past, present, and future.

Pure win.

Omnipotence is to be all powerful, not all knowing. I don't think that would be fair since it would contain all other powers.

I think you want omniscience, to know everything.

I agree with all of those except the hallucinations. the human brain doesn't create hallucinogens naturally, nor does the central nervous system react in that manner to excessive electricity. No hallucinations, but you could dope people up and make them 'elads', or electrical addicts. Read The Terminal Man by Micheal Crichton, it talks all about that.

I don't mean create hallucination inducers labeled hallucinogens, I mean send electrical signals to the brain such as those fired my your eyes or ears.

Also I'm thinking of the opposite to 'excessive' electricity, but rather small currents focused on the synapses. And muscles contract through the application of electricity, naturally induced by the axons by moving around molecules (although not known exactly how), but this process could be bypassed and electricity simply applied to the correct region. Ofcourse excessive electricity doesn't achieve much, since it triggers all synapses and contracts all your muscles and possibly burn out your nervous system leaving you paralyzed, for example if you get hit by lightning or touch a loose power cable.

Bah, same thing. You get the basic idea.

Grr... you stole my super power...

On another note, mind control would be hilarious.

Actually, if you were to only electrically stimulate the pleasure center of the brain, it can take high amounts of voltage. Many parts of the brain 'burn out' after high exposure, but the pleasure center of the brain can take lots and lots of punishment.

Its actually quite similar to drug tolerance: the more that is used and the more often, the more it will begin to take to elicit a response. The body can get quite used to that kind of direct stimulation. You can have an army of elads at your command, trapped by your opiation of them. You'd be quite the master of puppets.
