This is a new type of contest. It is a contest where I(Or whoeva the judge is. There will be more than one judge every week, and we will be judging together, so the winner isn't just based off of one person's opinion.)will post a theme, and you guys enter a work of art that you think best represents said theme. It can be a poem, a painting, a drawing, a short story, a picture, a sculpture, a picture you photoshopped, music, whatever. We judges will choose a winner out of all the entries. There will only be one winner. Firt themeI was forced to make this the theme from peer pressure)is Bad Ideas.
How are you going to judge an ''every type of art'' contest though...Art can only be judged when compared to other art of it's kind no? I mean, how do you depart a really good drawing from a really good text for example? You can't really choose the ''Better one'' since both's quality is rated upon different standards? Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to criticise or say this thread won't go anywhere...I was just wondering how you planned to...you know...judge ^^.

Technically it's pretty impossible without seeming biased. You could go on what looks more appropriate to the theme, but as you said art is judged between it's on category.
A picture and a poem could not be judged. Which is where the best way to go about it, would be to choose either;
- The top 3 entries. or - Pick the top entry from each category.

I think the idea is to judge based on which implemented the theme best.
It will be a lot easier to judge then you think. It's all about what represents the theme best. If you have a poem that reps the theme well and a pic that reps badly, you can compare the two and say the poem is better.

Well my friend, it really won't.
It's a biased decision, you cannot simply state that the poem represents the theme better then a picture or visa versa.
A poem takes on so many different meanings and messages, you have what the writer is trying to invoke in his piece and what everyone else takes in from it.
As for a picture, again when you design an image you have what your trying to achieve already set out, what you achieve and what people interpret is two different things, which is why this contest really is difficult to judge unless you decide to choose one winner from each category.
Example;
You have two Cars, both have the exact same performance, but one is made by BMW and one is made by Mercedes. Your going to go on the biased decision of; Which brand you like more & Which car has the better appearance
Its a biased decision to your own personal preference. If anything have AT LEAST, 3 different judges each round to stop any biased motives.
Anyway all i can say is good luck, but the idea and motivation is with you, but the game plan will be really hard to follow through without being biased and narrow minded about what people are handing in to be judged.
How about you guys just stop worrying about it? You're not the judge, let us worry about how to hard it will be to judge. But, my friend, I have a bit more experience in this than you do.
Sorry, it must of slipped my mind that i've done contests and competitions on design forums and on my own design forums for 6 - 7 years now with success that every week over 20 people would enter without fail, heh my bad though carry on.
Thank you for the good luck saying. And congrats about the forums. But, either enter the contest, talk about the entries, or leave. This conversation is not needed. The burden of judging is not yours.
