To your right is an open field, but it has 2-3 zombies.. Their features show that they are healthy and not wounded. (Can run faster as unwounded zombies).
But in front of you, are a mob of 20 zombies. Most of them look like they were hobos in their human life, so they probably are starved. (Will run slower, but stay grouped up from starvation.)

Just in case you didn't see it, because you missed it so many times.
Also, jalte, just a heads up: I don't think you get a weapon at the start. Just because it says "none" doesn't mean that you pick your weapon, it means that you don't get one.
