Hey there, I created this thread now (despite knowing there is other threads dealing with this) in the hope this might become the main string for discussion on the new, upcoming addition to the Assassin's Creed franchise.
I, like many other AC fans (I hope) are really looking forward to the new take on the classic gameplay, with the included multiplayer! This multiplayer addition makes the new game look like it is finally taking its place as one of the greatest game franchises, and is also making people who play the classic sort of game, i.e MW2, Battlefield, etc., look up from their games consoles and think, 'Wow, maybe a game that I thought was rubbish because it only had a singleplayer campaign (which to AC fans is still the best part) might be good after all'.
I am also looking forward, personally, to the new extension of the Ezio Auditore campaign. I was really annoyed, in a way, with Ubisoft for ending the line of story in AC1, as I was really getting to know and understand Altair and the original Assassin's Creed. So I was very glad when they announced that the campaign would continue with Ezio.
I was also pleased when I saw what they had planned for the gameplay (in singleplayer), with the entire idea of a Creed of assassins finally coming into its own. I previously only barely understood why it was called a creed, thinking that it just meant that there were many Assassins, but they had other missions to do. But finally, Ubisoft realised that this could mean a whole new level of development for the game, with the ability to hire, train and ultimately utilise assassins and there powers to take on large groups of enemies.
I also say, recently, a video of the development of the game with an interview with a Ubisoft representative showing new aspects of the game, and more specifically, the game engine. Despite a love of AC2, there were two things I didn't very much like about it: the length of the campaign and the ease and time with which I completed it, leaving me with almost nothing to do, and the time it took me to eliminate groups of enemies, having to counter and counter and sometimes get in the odd hit to kill just one. But in this video I watched, the Ubisoft representative claimed that the new games engine was specifically designed (thanks to our numerous complaints I'm sure :]) to speed up the combat system, practically enabling Ezio (with his 'newfound experience and training' claimed the representative) to take out even groups of reasonably armoured groups at once (also he said this is down to the fact that in AC2, the guards were defending towns and people, meaning they were more likely to stall and block, whereas now, they are launching an attack on the Auditore villa and family, making them more aggressive and also more likely to make mistakes you can exploit).
As for the multiplayer level, there isn't much new news to pass onto you that most people reading this string don't already know, but if you would like me to post the known info about the multiplayer layer of the game, please comment on this string or my profile, and I will make sure I post some info at least.
I really like AC 2, but I am not completely sure whether I should get brotherhood or not, because I get bored with AC really fast, because there isn't much to do except stabbing peoples throats.
I find it the opposite way around, that I find the Assassin's Creed series a fresh new idea and a refreshing change from the conventional gun'n'run genre.
