My suggestion, size, placement, color complements, blur, touching objects, etc. are key into having a good picture that doesn't hurt the eyes In the first one, the Loloynage (in my opinion) should be in the middle and much larger, that way the eye is drawn to it immediately... In the second one, it's not so much as the size of the name, maybe could be a little more centered. The only reason the name is hard to see is because of your boarder....it pops out to eye as much as the name does, so maybe changing the boarder or the color of the font to make it easier to read. Absolutely, the first one was 90% abstraction. Maybe not as complex as the second one, but i still like it more.
I love that you haven't fallen into any specific patterns for design and these are great starts. I recommend that you google two websites though. A custom font provider, and brushes for photoshop. They are fun to play around with and they create great looking works.
