COD1 and its expansion pack, United Offensive, were the best games. Some of the most intense campaign, and very balanced multiplayer. There aren't any perks or attachments or killstreaks, just you and your skill.
Every CoD game after CoD 4: Modern Warfare is mediocre.
In my opinion:
1. CoD 4 2. CoD WaW 3. CoD Blackops 4. CoD MW2
MW2 corrupted gaming. Everyone wants to be a "l33t quikzkoping gawd" now. Not to mention the terrible maps and weapon balance.
CoD4 is the best because it actually takes some effort to play, and the characters were memorable and you really felt a connection with them. In MW2, Ghost is just some dude that wears a skullmask and occasionally talks to you. People only like him cuz he had the mask and the same voice as Gaz. HE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE ANY ONE LINERS GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH (plus the story was a effed up mess =o!).
CoD4's multiplayer was perfect (almost), the maps were amazing, the balance was perfect. There were some things that needed fixing here and there, but they weren't a major deal. I don't see why people like MW2. It takes zero skill, it's not competetive at all. It's a playground for kids. It's a joke.
I know most of you would disagree with my opinion, and I leave you with one question; what makes a good game to you?
doctor funk i only disagree wit you on one thing and thats w@w was better the only prob for w@w was the tanks the gnade launcher or noob tube was perfectly done by makin it last or second last attchment unlocked and on snipers and some rifles
My favorite Call of Duty game would probably have to be CoD4. The guns weren't the most balanced, but I found that they all seemed to do their job pretty well. The perks, though frustrating at times, also seemed very satisfying. I generally played on hardcore, so I never really had to worry about juggernaut or stopping power being used.
Most importantly, CoD4 had the best maps, hands down. Although each map seemed to cater to specific gun types, you could get away with using any type of gun you wanted if you knew the map and your guns well enough. CoD4 offered maps of more variety than MW2 or Black Ops.
One map I loved was bloc. I don't understand why, but most people preferred to snipe on that map. It was THE map for using a shotgun. I also enjoyed Overgrown, which was often an all out battle between snipers.
I never actually owned MW2 and I played online for only one day. I absolutely hated it. The kill streaks were unbelievably unbalanced. The combination of perks and gun equipment just killed the game for me. Heart beat censor? Come on! I never spent enough time playing MW2 to get good, but I honestly didn't even want to. I played through the campaign, which was awesome. I also loved the co op missions. The online multiplayer was just a mess though. It felt like there was just too much crammed in.
Black Ops may replace CoD4 as my favorite CoD game, but right now I can't really say it's my favorite. The guns are, for the most part, balanced. I do have one major complaint, and that's the fact that most of the smgs need buffed, bad. The uzi needs to do more damage, the scorpions need more range, and most of the other smgs simply need to do a tick more damage. I know they are supposed to be short range, but they should have more range than a shot gun.
The maps on Black Ops are very generic. I feel like I'm being forced to use the assault rifle or AK74u (assault rifle pretending to be an smg). With CoD4, you had many areas where you could cover a good portion of the map with a sniper rifle and you had portions of the map that catered to short range weapons. The assault rifles were the jack of all trades, master of none. In Black Ops, there's very few areas to safely snipe from and the few areas good for close range combat make up such a low percentage of every map that there's no point in using a shotgun or smg. It's like they scattered random blocks around and wherever they dropped, that's the cover you have.
I have no opinion when it comes to World at War because I have less than 30 minutes experience playing the online multiplayer.
CoD 4 ftw, still I hate hardcore so much, I think it's a sprayer mod, for those who can't aim xD Also, WaW was awesome but CoD 4 was bettar. The WaW athmosphere of multiplayer and co-op and campaign was so great. The guns of WaW were great also, if you played WaW from teh first days of release like me and if you played on PC, you could have played November Dobby's zombie mod, he closed it after a while because Treyarch got him angry with their updates...
I've only played MW2, and all the hype was wasted. Sure, it might be fun the first time around, but the campaign stinks. I can't play multiplayer though. Got a few problems to work out.
Out of the the Call of Duty games I have played, my favorite would be World at War. I like how the graphics and the game play in it are very good and the fact you get to fight in so many fronts. Plus, there is the world famous Nazi Zombies, which is excessively addicting.
another good one was 2 or 3 i forgot which one but this one time all of my friends were playin a game it was a private match and it was tdm well there was this one house everyone would go and camp to so we just defended it everyone was usin snipers sept me i was usin a bar and my team just owned we called the fight gang wars cuz it was just a simple house be in defended
As far as campaign went I would have to say it would be a toss between COD 2 and COD 4. While COD 4 had its moments with missions like Act 1's: Aftermath; showing your character die from radiation exposure and Act 2's: All Ghillied Up; introducing a well designed stealth aspect breaking up the otherwise monotonous run and gun. COD 2 is, from beginning to end, good, so good in fact that I wanted MORE.
