I got this lockpick set for Christmas, and have been entertaining myself with the various locks around my house. I've got the padlocks down, but not any other locks.
Lockpickign is a skill that mostly only burglars use.
Burglars neither have the patience nor practical ability to use lockpicks. Why spend twenty minutes picking a lock when you can just smash the door down?
Anyways, surprised at the amount of responses. Was expecting less.
I'm going to try one of the door handle locks later tonight or tomorrow and see if I can pick it. I should be able to with one of these picks.
That's a blanket statement Orion, burglary is also a 'rofession' of stealth and skill, not just brute force. There's a reason the term cat burglar was coined.
Anyway congrats, lets hope you're not doing anything that will land you in jail right?
If you're really good at it it'll only take 2-5 minutes on some doors. Maybe even less
Thats fast. Over the summer I picked locks in churchs.
That sounds terrible, and Iwas just going to leve it alone, but I was working for a pipe organ specialist. We would go in, service the organ, and bounce. Often times though the preist didn't want to come in at 8 in the morning to get started. So we where locked out side. ON alot of doors a credit card between the door frame, and the door can push the bolt out of the way, and unlock the door. Thats usefull for exterior doors. Interior doors are easy with small knives or paper clips. Paper clips are nice, but they bend very easyily
If you do it regularly, it becomes pretty easy to tell the good lock from the bad ones, production line to hand made. I've done it for a while and it's pretty usefull. Can you learn how to relock a door?
Relocking a door? I don't think thats possible. When your unlocking it, your pushing the little things up, in order to lock it you'd have to pull them down? I don't think you can.
