Why is it a pain in the ***, it's just like any other caster.

No it's not, Dibs.
With any other caster, you have maybe 3 summoned creatures to deal with at this level. With this caster, you have over 200. Do you see where it gets bothersome for the DM? It's the same reason I won't allow Leadership.

Nuh uh, he had a few large beasts there where useless.

I get ya, but this class sort of trades in magical power for, management skills.
