So he can pretend to be an elemental? I have two instakill abilities, one of which is an AoE.

And the best spellcasting prestige is Mystic Theurge. There are some other good ones, but not that good.
There are also a lot of spellcasting classes that sound cool when you read the description but ultimately turn out to be completely useless when you start to play. Ya'll mostly talk about those.

High Arcana is decent, but not that great.
Red Wizard is good as long as your opponents specialize in the same thing as you do. Otherwise, you're ****ed. It's too narrow.

Pretty good. That's basically Mystic Theurge but Bard instead of Sorcerer/Wizard. I don't like Bards, though, so I prefer Mystic Theurge. Fochlucan Lyrist does get more skill points though, I'll give them that.

Only if you plan on Counterspelling..... Actually, it's better if they don't because they will generally be unable to stop your spells.
