It seems to me the wii has pretty much already met it's full potential, as far as it's hardware can handle.
What would you guys like to see in Nintendo's next (not handheld) console?
Should it continue with motion tracking and try to improve upon the technology? Or maybe go back to the classic type of control? Should they go for graphical improvements, like what the new RAGE engine will do? Maybe even go completely 3D? How would you design the online?
Submit your ideas. Maybe someone will take notice.
while there has been a recent upturn in quality of wii games, it really hasn't "eaked" quite yet, and I haven't had trouble running any of my games.
I liked the motion controls but the next console should also have alternatives. graphics aren't really a problem, though they are waaay behind their competitors, but a little improvement would be nice.
and as for 3d? support for it would be nice but going completely 3d would be bad, as most people don't have 3dtvs.
The RAGE thing has to do with software not hardware, people could use it right now.
The Wii should totally dismantle the built-in motion system and instead just have accessories for it, like the other two competitors. This leaves room for other improvements that could have been done to the system, such as graphical improvements and support for 1080P. The games in the library could then have an alternative for gaming. Take Mario Kart. You could either drive with the stick, or balance the Wiimote to simulate driving. As a standard, you could drive with the stick. If you wished to motion drive Mario Kart, you could buy the sensor to go alongside the Wii, plus the Wiimote to use it.
If the two hardware are separated in use, then both could excel in what they do, instead of balancing both sides of the spectrum. Hardware for superior motion-detecting gaming, and hardware for superior software experiences.
It is a particular turn-down for me when I HAVE to use motion or touch-screening to perform an action or to proceed within a game, especially when you don't have to do either of the features to function normally. You either make the software fully sensory/touchable, or you do vice-versa.
I personally think they should keep their motion thingies, but balance the games out, so that the Classic and Gamecube controllers (or perhaps a brand new controller) gets used as much, if not more than the Wii remotes.

That was a fairly poor example. I race using the Wiimote and Nunchuck or the Classic Controller Pro, my brother/friends all use the tilt-y thing.
*ding*
The Nunchuck saved the Wii. In all honesty, it is bloody amazing. Motion sensor, 2 well placed buttons and a control stick. Without the Nunchuck, the Wii would of been a miserable failure.
Or, it could have started spawning more games for the CC/GCC.
One thing that they could do... Interestingly would be SSB4. Would they keep using the buttons, or would the motion tracking be reintroduced? It's available in SSBB for 'Shake Smash', although it's a bit dodgy and not used by many.
Why are you guys all saying that the wii should not have motion control?? This was the consoles trademark, and it is way better than the bulls that Sony and Microsoft produced. For the Wii 2 or Zii or whatever that thing will be called I hope they pay attention to the following: 1: Improve the hardware; I know top-graphics are not everything, but it would be real nice if the next console had some improvement, because it will attract more game makers and buyers that way I think. It will also be capable of larger and more detailed games that way. 2: Online mode; although I really appreciate that the Wii is free to play online, there is definately room for improvement here. Nintendo should abandon the friend-code and instead go for a real online profile with a picture and avatar+ statistics and score, something like Xbox Live, but Nintendo Style This would make the online experience so much better. 3: Controls: The next Wii should definately stick to motion control as its main control method, but as with the current console, they should produce stuff like the classic controller. Maybe they can get rid of large controllers and have only sensors? And definately implement motion plus 4: Innovation; The next console will deinately be innovative. Myamoto has said that they might have the heartbeat sensor implemented, and who knows what other fun stuff they can do?? This is my oppinion
(DK country returns players should know what I'm talking about)
Yes! Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes!
How can they make a remake of a game and require you to use the Wiimote? Seriously? They couldn't give a Classic Controller or GCC so people get a more nostalgic feel?
Well, DK Country returns is still and awesome game! But yes, I understand what you are saying, some companies just desperately tried to include the shaking and wiggling aspect of the wiimote, which was often unnecessary. But I still think they should keep it. Concerning 3D: I wouldn't be too optimistic about that. 3D TV's cost a hell lot of money and wearing the glasses the whole time could be really annoying...
On the 3d thing, ps3 already has some 3D games out, and i tried it and its really awesome, so it would be nice ( i have ps3 and wii). I dont think it would be very effective if they didnt raise there resolution to the next lvl, and doing that and keeping motion controls would add a lot of $$ to the bill. oddly, i think the ps3s motion is much better, the ball allows for better detection and location. The ps eye also adds some precision.
Honestly when i bought my wii i was kinda hoping for more, and it doesnt have anything on PS move, i cant say for kinect
