For a while, I was absolutely hooked on Monster Rancher 3, but that was solely because of the fact that it was my only PS2 game at the time.
I was hooked on Shadow of the Colossus (beautiful game by the way) until I had a mishap while collecting fruit and lizards. That cured me of it for a while.
I played that game obsessively for about 5 years, from release through a number of expansions. Hundreds of days played on several different characters. I'd get up extra early on my days off so I could get 17 or 18 hours of playtime in. There were at least two occasions when working on quests with friends that I played for 48 hours straight.
I was still playing when WoW came out and quit to try that out. Luckily it never grabbed me the same way and best of all my life situation had changed in such a way that I simply couldn't devote that much time to a game any more.
I'd say most games fall into this category for me. I don't buy lots of games, so I tend to play through games very thoroughly. Recently, I'd say Call Of Duty: Black Ops. Or for flash games, Sonny 2.
people will probably think this is weird but i think the most addictive games are the boring ones like harvest moon its just like it sucks u in and u cant get out
