Tell me your father of the family. I mean who is your oldest ancestor?

My family ancestor is Selt Aerts(My surname is Selten)
There is a website where my whole family tree is made including modern-day family members.

Want to check it out and see if you are far-away family from me. Look on http://www.zwiebelfam.nl/gendata/selten/selnames.html

my anchestors are unclear... but there are several hugenots and a lot of people from around the german-dutch border who are my anchestors. my family name is Thon, wich comes from some other name for 'fenced piece of land.' it's a rare name, (ten times in the netherlands, my household has six members.), and my first and last name may be unique in the world. XD

but it will get more rare in a decade, for me and my sisters are all female.

Some Venetian noble is the oldest ancestor I know of. But I don't remember very well the story of what he exactly did and where he went.

Part of my family came from Germany to Brazil in 1886 (this is where I live). Only 3 of them came up here and they made a huge family. I have a book about how the family was originated but I can't find it. It explains everything since the first guy of the family.

I don't know where the other part of my family came from. I think it is Spain or Portugal though.

Probably Portugal because Brazil was a Portuguese colony.

I'm not sure, mainly because I haven't had the opportunity to look at my genealogical records yet.

I'm quite certain my oldest verifiable ancestor is some Spanish colonial landowner that lived in the Philippines though.

How do you know that? You said you didn't know your genealogical records.

I should have explained that I'm aware of my genealogical background, but I don't know specific names. If I wanted to dig deep into the past, my best bet would be to look at my colonial Spanish ancestors on my father's side.

Thanks, that explains a lot. You should look it up though.

I've tried, and I'll try again. The easiest thing to do is to ask for records from my relatives, but they're overseas. I'll be sure to do that next time I see them.

How do you know who is your family father? I tried to look it up, but i couldn't find it.. I did find a whole list with people who had the same surname, but that was it.

The oldest man with the same surname is from 1790..
