When you rate a game do you rate it on:

- Graphics?

- Style?

- Unique?

Or do you rate games by either you like it or not?

When I rate a game, even if its something I really don't like, I rate it based off its Graphics, Style and Uniqueness. Sometimes for me its originality makes me rate it a 10. If your rating a zombie game most likely its not going to have originality, so you have to rate it based off the others. Comment. What do you think?

it depends. when i play a game genre i dont like i try to stay as objective as i can. i dont rate games by graphic because sometimes bad graphic is exactly one of the greatest things in a game.when i play a game that is just a time waster i rate it by the way it makes you want to keep playing it. and when i rate a game that is deep i rate it by the story and feeling it gives when you play it. of course gameplay is important in all of them

I rate games based on a couple things.
1:How creative the designer was and how good the art was.
2:If there was any problems with lag or anything like that.
3:How fun the game was.(whether I play it for 2 minutes or hours.)
4:Extras.Like multilayer or story line videos.
Thats basically what I look for in a good game.

Well, I think it depends on a lot of the things. Firstly, the genre. I do not usually play games of a genre I don't like. After it, I analyse the game's idea, storyline (if there is one), if I had fun with it and graphics. Then music, sound effects and replayability. If the game is unique it would earn some points too.

Sometimes good games are tributes, that are not good because they are the most realistic, or have the most intuitive in-depth graphics or game engine. They're good because they are true to the game that created it. Like Raiden X or Heat Rush. Both tribute games that are hella fun to play, but only if you have played the originals.

if it makes me loose what little sense of time i've got, that's a good game. (like foldit!...nevermind.)

I check a few things:

Addictiveness

Graphics (only sometimes because bad graphics can make a game better)

Originality

Music and SFX (only when applicable)

Level of challenge (Games like The Unfair Platformer and World's Hardest Game are too hard, others are too easy)

That's my general list, but factors change from game to game.

Mostly I determine game for its replay value. Then I know that game is good, if I come back to play it after I have won it.
Of course graphics, playability (I just hate sucking controls!) and creativity.

None of these points defines a good game. A game is good, if you like to play it and that's all. That of course depends on some of the points, but I wouldn't say that bad graphics make a bad game, sometimes it adds to the quality (keyword "retro&quot...

After all, games are meant to be played and often you can't explain, why you like a game, but if everyone rates as he likes, we will get more of the stuff, the majority likes. If everyone rates according to graphics and sound we will get crappy games that look and sound good.
(I personally mostly mute every game 'cause I want to listen to music^^)

"A game is good, if you like to play it and that's all"
...while my point was, it's a REALLY good game if it makes me lose track of time.

on another note, my speakers are usually turned off.

I think just on how people rate games that there stupid about it. Someone goes, "This is a great game, well made and fun, but I don't like these types of games so it's 5/10". That's what's stupid.

This. So many times I see a great game getting a bad rating because people are like; "yeah it's a good game but not my kinda thing 2/10."
Every time that happens, God kills a kitten, kids.
