the main reason that Mario stays on Nintendo consoles only is the fact that his games are all produced with some company owned by Nintendo or Nintendo itself. although the release of Mario games on other consoles would be nice, it is probably not going to happen

Biggest competitors? You're right about how Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are the "big three", but Nintendo is vastly winning in both hardware and software sales, ayup.

Like what others said, Mario is the flagship character of Nintendo, and any variation or spinoff of Mario is Nintendo property. To throw away an exclusive means throwing away part of their reputation and sales.
why would nintendo put one of their own characters on another gaming system that wasnt created by nintendo? im surprised sonic was put on stuff like wii and xbox and that stuff to bad sega consoles arent really around anymore but thats a different story if you dont like it i sure suggest getting nintendo systems and stop complaining
Mario is from Nintendo, not Microsoft or Sony. Thus, there is no way that would happen. Just get a Wii! They're better than an xbox or playstation in my opinion.
I think Nintendo's ran out of ideas with mario. They've put him 2D, 3D, 2/3D in the same game, Space, More space, given him a dinosaur, gave teh dinosaur 4 different colors, and most recently, put him inside his worst enemy.
