Chapter 1 - Slavery Steve was dragged into the cold, dark, concrete cell. He crawled weakly up the stiff bed. His dark blue shirt was torn, his black rough pants were in poor condition, and his brown hair was messy and dirty. As he turned his head away, he silently shed tears and closed his eyes. He had always wished that some day, he would be released and be free. But that seemed like it would never happen. As a metal loudly crashed against the stone bars, a voice grunted aggressively. "Up, worker! It's time to dig for minerals!" Steve's face turned into a blank stare, and began to stand up. The guard, armed with iron armors, slid open the cell gate and pushed Steve around with a hard stick. He continued on into the loud hallways, filled with other slaves hiding in their cells and screaming. At the end of the hallway, he came across a cracked wooden door. He pushed it open, received several splinters, though still kept his blank stare. He then had continued through.
On the outside of this wooden door, was a giant mine system. Mine carts, storage chests full of precious minerals and furnaces smelting ores. Steve grabbed his poor condition stone pickax, and walked down the long stairs, only looking slightly at the other fellow miners being forced and punished to work. He turned his head, and faintly leered at the guards. He continued walking, getting warmer and darker the deeper underground he went. -------------------------------
These chapters may not be very long, but I usually don't like spending too much time concentrating on one thing for too long over a while. But anyways, comments and criticism are welcome, even the bad ones!
I am pleased to hear that you find this very short beginning chapter interesting! Maybe if I get enough motivation, I can think about making a whole book for it... Well you know, not a real book, but just a finished story.
Chapter 2 - Kidnapped or Saved? As Steve began his monotonous daily routine, he always was wary and alert. As he had been mining some stone, he had heard a quiet sound. They sounded like bones clashing against each other, though he hadn't thought much about it. As the bone clanking grew louder, they sounded closer. Steve was now worried and repeatedly kept looking behind his back. A sharp tipped arrow was shot just above his shoulder, in the blink of an eye. Soon after, a white smooth material covered his face and dragged him into the darkness.
Steve woke up, lying down a soft bed, made out of clean, fresh wool and silk. He quickly arose, and suspiciously looked around the room. Light brown wooden walls, shiny marble floors, marvelous paintings along the walls of the room, and a nice little restroom in the corner. He walked around the room for a while, and enjoyed the new environment. Soon after, the door opened forcefully, but no one was there.
Thank you all for the positive comments! They make me happy when I read them. (Not in that way)
The Builder and Destroyer
Chapter 3 - A Stranger with Plans Steve had nearly jumped out of his skin, and quickly tip toed back towards the bed. The door creaked as it slowly opened more. "Do not... fear..." whispered a hoarse voice, "I am... not..." the voice grew louder and louder. Behind the door walked out a skeleton. A walking skeleton. "Stay back! What kind of menace are you?!" shouted Steve. He was showing aggression and tried to be intimidating, though on the inside he was truly afraid. His legs felt like they turned to jelly, as he shook and sweat in fear. "Not.. enemy..." whispered the skeleton. "I am... peace..." "Peace? So you are friendly?" asked Steve. He didn't fully trust the skeleton at first. He readied his dull pocket knife, just in case. The skeleton walked towards him, and placed his bony hands and fingers on his shoulder. "I help..." it said.
The skeleton's face was the same as a human skull, but with a small, almost unnoticeable frown. "Yes. I help." it cleared its throat. Steve raised one of his eyebrows and stepped back. "First of all, my name is.." The skeleton sounded much more intelligent and polite this time. He soon coughed again. "Excuse me, I cannot talk for much..." He was now coughing much more, covering his ribcage. Steve stared as the skeleton coughed more and more. "I have a plan... To help you..." The skeleton calmly said, as he lay on his knees. "You didn't say your name yet," said Steve.
I feel like things are happening too quickly. And it seems like you used his and he too many times in the first chapter.
I know, I like to keep things quick and short. Also about the repeated "his" and "he" comment, I don't really know how to write sentences without putting "his" and "he" a lot...
Hmm.. I like it. I would like it more if you put say 2 chapters in one post instead of posting one short chapter at a time, would stop the abrupt feeling.
