You have your Halo's and your Crysis' where you're some kind of titan thrown into a world of epic that you must shoot to save the human race, and then, you have your modern shooters.
So which is the best of them? The shooters laden with the aspects and woes of modern war, the stealth levels, the high-octane chases, the sniper rifles, the gripping low-HP multiplayer, which of them is best?
I can name four off the top of my head. In descending order of AWESOME is as follows...
1. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 2. (a very close 2nd) Call of Duty MW1 (I found this to be the strongest of the three modern shooters that CoD has released so far) 3. Far Cry 2 4. Rainbow Six Vegas 2
modern warfare 2 is sick i love that game. the online is great there is great diversity in the gun selection which is waht was really lacking in the first MW. so yea i say MW2 is the best
Out of all of those: I like Rainbow Six the most. It's a lot more tactical than run and gun, which makes it a lot of fun. I have a strong feeling that Rainbow Six are such underrated games.
BFBC2 is the best. MW2 is good, but the Assault Rifles are over-diversified and over-powered. Taking out the Tar-21, and adding another semi-automatic rifle and removing maybe the Scar-H would help to balance the game.
MW1 is also really good, simply because its really balanced. Of course, with the flood of MW2'ers coming over to MW1, Assault Rifles are once again over used. :/
I'd choose Red Faction:Guerrila for the PlayStation 3 because of the wide variaty of weapons(And yes,this is a shooter, because there are more guns that melee weapons it is a shooter)and the feel of the game. If this game doesn't fit in the "Modern" section i'd have to choose a game a little further into the future- Killzone 2. Its one of those more challenging gun games because of the sway and vareous other reasons.
for those who dont like balance of weapons in mw2 black ops has fewer overpowered guns one pistol is over powered and otherwise perks are horribly balanced (like for last chance pro you have to get 200 headshots in final stand when you only have 30 secs each time)
red faction geurilla (one of the most under rated games ever) is not a modern but its so awesome it fits in anywhere hell if someone said best rpg id say red faction geuriilla then theyd be like thats no role playing game then id be like well it has Rockt Propelled Grenaes in it so i win
Let's be real here folks, everyone loves a game where you are some immortal hero who can go around "falcon punching" everyone and their mom and not have one single bar of life drawn from that little bar in the corner. While I do agree that these games are extremely fun, we need to remember the games where we get to be the little guys. Maybe rather than stepping into the glorious position of a commander in the military, you step into the dusty tattered boots of a battlefield grunt. Like the line from the song Citizen/Soldier by Three Doors Down, "The strongest among you may not where a crown". That's what our games should be like. It would bring a more rich, real, and intense game that would make us shudder as bullets fly past us, rather than having some energy shield like Master Chief. So in my opinion, I'd have to say my favorite game would have to be Homefront.
