These are my three favorite sonnets that I wrote. (Please respect my creative vision, I am happy to let people quote these, but please cite my username if you do, thank you)
My Child (Sonnet #3) O sleep, my child, you're in my arms tonight I'm sorry for the world to which I bring you Surrounding darkness drowning out the light And painful evil aims to only sting you I know someday I need to set you free Into the world of hate, of pain, of sorrow And all to soon, as old as me you'll be I know that day is all too near tomorrow But no! Until that day you're here with me You're in my arms, forever you will stay And I'll imagine that you'll always be O, nothing, none can carry you away You're in my arms, all pain and madness cease O sleep, my child, tonight and dream of peace
The Rose (Sonnet #4) A rose was standing in an empty field Alone, with none around to see her strife She huddled down, protected in her shield And wondered why she had to live this life The sun, though shining, brought no sense of hope Just burned her precious petals to the ground A past of pain to which she couldn't cope The lies, deceit, the love she thought she found But courage, courage met the little rose And gave her eyes to see, and cause to sing For angels stood around and fought the crows and said "we will be here through everything" So now she broke away from being shy And offered up her beauty to the sky
The Soldier (Sonnet #5) The soldier stood out on the battlefield The bloodsoaked carnage burned into his mind His weapon had become his only shield No longer a façade to hide behind The only one alive amongst the dead His brothers fallen long before their time The enemy had made this field their bed In effort just to prove themselves sublime Then in his head there came a sudden thought The eyes of one who valued him the most His vision shattered with a sounding shot He prayed to not return to her a ghost And running toward his dear and precious light He took his gun and raced to end the fight
