Metroid is a unique game that blurs the lines of what a shooter can and must be. Not only does it provide some of the most intense shoot-outs on any Nintendo platform, but it also utilizes the art of power-up collecting and puzzles, somethings shooters rarely bother with these days.
Halo is a straight up shooter that doesn't break any new ground, but gets the job done. The way the story is told through cutscenes rivals anything that has been in theatres recently. Plus, the online play is AMAZING, and there's nothing (outside of COD4) that can match the experience and sense of community.
