Welcome! This is where I'll be displaying my pixel art, which I've very recently (last night) taken up as a hobby of sorts. My thanks to ProfessorOak and cabba for the motivation to take this up!
Anyways, I'm only working on basic isometric buildings at the moment. Since 11 p.m. yesterday, I've managed to draw two. I'll try to add people eventually, and I'm hoping to, some day, branch off of isometric into different styles.
Without further ado, here're my first to pieces as exhibitions:
Looking good so far! May I ask what program you are using? I've done some small works in pixel art but I don't have any good program or way of technique. Will be nice to follow!
All right, it's past midnight where I am right now, but I've got an idea on my head, and I'm starting it!
@Jefferysinspiration Why, thank you! I can still see some parts that look a little off, but I think I'll be able to figure out how to fix them eventually.
@Bendriksson All questions will be answered! I'm doing my art in Graphics Gale; it's a bit difficult to get used to at first, but it's free and pretty easy once you get used to it. And if you're looking for technique, I came up with those two buildings from here and here.
Well I just say this while I am on my phone, so I'm going to try to critique the stuff you have so far, and give you tips. c: The first building is nice. A bit too vibrant of a green for me, but if you like it... I see what you're trying to do with the small wall around the parking lot, but it really appears to be as flat as paper, try to add some depth into that. Lastly, there's no shading right below the wall on the pavement! It looks weird. On the second building, I like what you're doing with the windows, but the solid white reflection doesn't look great, and is sort of distracting, try putting some transparent white over the glass. The last one looks a bit rushed, and unfinished. Firstly, what's up with the random door on the roof, it doesnt fit correctly. Also the purple and shade of brown are rather similar, try adding a darker brown, for more contrast. Overall I'm happy you started and I hope you continue getting better!
I noticed the photo right after I posted it. I was actually not finished with it, but I forgot... Anyway, I think I fixed it pretty well; I also added a grass cube.
@jeol Ok, thanks for the input! I changed the doors according to what you said, and it does look much better. As for stuff on the roof, I would've, but I'm still trying to think of something to add, lol.
@ProfessorOak Hey, your criticism is really going to help! I fixed the windows by fixing the reflection, and making it a bit transparent. And for the door, I've seen a lot of iso art with stuff that doesn't fit at all, so I somewhat put it there for laughs, lol.
Thank you, Murasaki! I'm going to try to draw as often as I can; this is actually really fun.
Ok, so I have a new one now! This took two days, and it's the most complex one yet. 31 colors, and 4 cubes and 3 faces based on the wire frame I started with.
Alright guys, just a heads-up. I might not post here in a while. I'm trying to shift from isometric buildings to themes along the lines of horror movies. You know, stuff like Saw, Tales from the Hood, etc. I'm really trying to get used to it, so this might take a while.
@ug5151 Hey, thanks, man! So you do pixel art, too?
@Jefferysinspiration Thanks! I'm actually surprised by my progress myself.
Alright, I'm postponing my current project. I was working on a front-facing head of Billy, the puppet, from Saw. It's harder than I imagined. I'll be working on a submarine now, instead. I'll try to resume Billy some time in the future.
@bunniecorps Thank you! Yeah, I know the colors are off a bit. I've noticed finding just the right colors is the hardest part for me. Oh well, practice makes perfect.
@Jefferysinspiration You know, gray scale might be interesting. I'll try that in the future; thanks for the idea!
