Survivor's Stories

Chapter 1 - The Forest
I felt grains of sand on my cheek as I woke up. I felt a harsh heat beating down on my back. I struggled to stand up, feeling weak and hungry, and most of all tired. Not knowing where I was, I panicked. I looked around and saw the ocean close by, and the forest only meters away as well. I'm a survivor, and I was a top rank boy scout during summer camp. Now, I was only 16 at the time, but I knew a lot. The first that came to my mind? Find or build a shelter and get food.

I walked towards the forest, which seemed to have little light inside of it, even looking from the outside. When I entered I felt a slight feeling of being watched, but I soon shrugged it off. I gathered some sticks and leftover lumber off the floor, and placed the gathered materials onto a flat, and slightly lighter, spot. They fell perfectly into a pile.

Thinking of making these wooden items into tools, I looked around for anything that could attach the sticks and lumber together. A little deeper into the dark forest, I found a large hole, I couldn't see much down there, but I did find some tough silk close to the edge of the drop. I quickly grab it and move back to my pile of wood.

I take a couple of sticks and a piece of lumber and wrap the tough silk around the area of the stick which should put together the sticks and wood. I create an ax of some sort, which would soon prove useful. I take a quick walk out of the forest to check the sun, which oddly seemed to be setting already.

Chapter 2 - Fear of Darkness
It was almost dark and I didn't get a chance to do much. I searched around for any potential shelters for the night. I felt this strange feeling of fear. I have never been afraid of the dark, but this forest is special. It made me feel afraid somehow.

I hear this low groan and a distant gurgling sound from somewhere. This time it was absolute dark and I couldn't see much, so I started running. And finally, after what seemed hours, I find a small hole in the side of the base of a mountain.

I look inside first, before I do anything else. It seemed empty, so I entered. The room was quite small, 6 foot tall ceiling and a 6 foot wide and long room. I settled down and sat for awhile. I heard my stomach growl once or twice, but I wasn't going out there until the next morning. I lie down on the cold stone floor and eventually fall asleep.
