One of the game that has the most amazing overall soundtrack to me is Phantom Brave, originally for the Ps2. Frankly put, it's my favorite tactic in almost every regard.
I'll try to post as many songs as possible that I like, so as to not clogg the thread with too much posts; you see, I can't pin a single favorite down. Listen to them!
From Phantom Brave. Often quaint and soothing, the game has it's vivid and heartfelt moments and just the music to fit them. Best Rpg ever. I'll never have enough praise for that game.
And then some from Sonic, because Sega just had amazing soundtracks back in the Genesis period, when MIDI was all the rage; we'll come back to it later with megaman of course.
I'll take a break, there's just too many good songs in Sonic games...
Megaman games boasted these very fast paced MIDI soundtracks that just went along so well with the game's arcade feeling. Again, just a few songs, because there are many good ones.
From a very charming and cute game that's one of the most enjoyable to play for every age; Klonoa. A door to phantomile actually made me cry as a kid because of how it ends; fantastic soundtrack. Put simply; all the tracks of this game are majestic, go grab an emulator and play it.
From the first Baten Kaitos, the battle theme song; amazing game with beautiful art and a interesting storyline. Probably the best battle song ever, end of line.
Euf, I'll take a break...I could go on for so much more, but since this is supposed to be a single favorite song thread, I'll leave it at those for now. Enjoy them.
My favorite song is by far The best is yet to come because it is so emotional and the language sounds so beautiful. Nothing is more epic than this. I hope that some of you remember this song.
Umm...tough choice tough choice tough choice...I'm gonna name a couple that are stuck in my head from series that haven't been named yet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv7c0si2AEo Promised Pain, Xenosaga 3. Yuki Kaijura is just one of my favorite composers, and Xenosaga 3 has a soundtrack almost too epic for a turn-based RPG. This is just one of the best songs, but at least 80% of the entire OST is recommended.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vj8I_wl0xXk At the Time of Farewell, Tales of the Abyss. Another of my favorite composers, Motoi Sakuraba, who's done entire series of amazing recommended music. This is probably the most epic of all the fight music, even though it's played only the first time you fight the main boss halfway through the game.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srh0Ev2DpEc March, Tales of Legendia. Yes it's another Tales game, but this OST was done by Go Shina, with a fully orchestrated soundtrack. This song is primarily looped for several dungeons, and despite being dungeon music, this is heavier than most games' final boss music. It goes between songs like this, to very soothing and light track, the game was worth playing for the music alone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q2uVK28QY4 World End Roar, Melty Blood: Actress Again. Lots of good music coming from this arcade fighter, but I picked this one. Near impossible to play this game outside of Japan, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a fan who regretted it. It's a great song to play while setting vampires on fire.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMiTUiwv40A&feature=related Gourmet Race, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Come on, the Kirby stage had some of the best music in the game! It's Kirby after swallowing Dragonforce or Metallica. In a game with so many songs that were quiet, this was so much fun to play while beating up a room full of friends.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02LisDZb4-U&feature=related Finale b2, Portal 2. Portal's ending songs were mentioned, but everyone knows those. But I think Portal is a pretty cool guy, eh shoots holes in robots and doesn't scared of anything. And this song is more catchy and gets stuck in your head than most final boss songs. It doesn't need to be huge and epic and awe-inspiring to be a good fight song. (It's a meme, please don't flame, I know who Chell is =T )
Okay yeah it's kind of info dumpy, but maybe someone will find a new OST to listen to? Maybe?
