Wait... wha program do you use?

i would sugest runn the FPS at 24 or 30. and expanding the amount of frames you use

TheLastGamer, if you want to get more advanced, then when the ball bounces, make it squeeze slightly to make it look like it's actually reacting with the ground slightly.

30 is the minimum you should run anything at, after that it get's really choppy.

Also, try using shape tweens in your animation.

Here's a quick demo i made.

I disagree, 20 FPS will look real smooth too, and you can probably go as low as 16 and still get decent results.

The animation below is at 20 frames per second:

And the animation below is at 18 framers per second:

Sure, 30FPS would've looked a lot smoother, but you don't need to make those 50% extra frames to get a good result.

Generally, average web animation is 10 fps, most cartoons are 24 fps, and cinematics are 30, I believe.
If you want something to run smoothly in a web browser, especially ones that does not work very smoothly in the first place, go with 10-12 and just work through the other tricks in imitating speed.

Besides, unless you actually do the tweening well, it will look like crap no matter how many frames you throw through the monitor.

I will recommend researching animation a bit, if you really want to improve, and then do as any starting animator will be forced to do: Do an animation of a bouncing ball, and make it look naturally.
And instead of fixing the problems, you do another animation. And another and so on, until you feel secure with how it looks and what the process of animation feels like.
More so, remember that reality is unrealistic.
