Academy of Sorcery Volume 1: The Journey to the Academy of Sorcery
I set off from my old cottage in the meadow and wandered into the swamplands. A Hablicus was bounding around the reeds quickly. I grinned. Suddenly a Plantocro erupted from the swamp, water streaming from its mouth. At me. âFreeze Watreuss!â I yelled and the water froze. âHmph.â I grunted, and walked off. I was soon out of the forest and into the mountains. I heard a crash in the distance but I ignored it. âProbably just a Cranlo on a rampage,â I thought. And I was right. Although it was behind me. âGreat,â I growled. I swung round and cast a spell holding my White Staff up. âFrez Immobilous!â I yelled. The monster froze on the spot after it roared. I ran through the mountains and stumbled upon a water spring beside a vast lake. I walked over to the spring and had a drink. I made a pair of ice skates out of ice and put them on. I stumbled over to the lake and started skating on it. A path of ice formed in front of me and disappeared behind me. A Red Plantocro burst out of the lake and cold but painful fire was streaming out of its mouth, barely missing me. I sped up, not feeling the need for spells, dodging the flame. The beast eventually gave up chase and dived back into the deep blue. I saw the shore and skated towards it. I noticed my acadamy on the distant hill, but I was tired so I sheltered under an old Crimson Oak. I woke up quite early the next morning, had a drink, and set off into the desert beside the lake. I spotted a Parched Shrewlengrol in the distance. It looked as if it was half buried so I tried to help it. It roared as I pulled it out of the sand. It started to stagger off into the sandstorm that had begun. I ran after it but it seemed almost⦠scared. I stopped it but it curled up, it probably thought I was going to attack it. I was actually trying to give it a drink of the water I kept in a shell from the spring. It soon realized that I wasnât going to harm it, so it drank the water then burrowed into the sand. It seemed that the creature wanted me to follow it, and it was true. I followed it and the tunnel it made ended at a canyon that was very deep. I walked over to the canyon and I saw a tunnel at one end of it. âThey forgot to tell me that the portal had been moved,â I muttered. I started to climb down the rocky cliff to the bottom of the canyon, and I heard someone, or something, creeping around the rocks. âRRROOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRR!â. âUh-oh!â I said, now trembling. A huge dragon burst out of the tunnel, roaring. The Rock Dragon, Guardian of the Canyon. I ran round avoiding the rocks flying towards me, although it wasnât easy. At one point, the dragon bashed into one side of the canyon, giving me enough time to summon my White Staff. I pointed it at the dragon, and orbs of magic and ice shot out of the staff, freezing the dragon. I ran towards the tunnel, and as soon as I got into it, the dragon had thawed out. I started running, trying to avoid the sides of the tunnel. I knew that the dragon would give chase. And what do you know? It did. I tried to ignore it, but I couldnât because of all the sound it was making. I eventually got out of the tunnel, and the dragon tried to follow me, but there was a spell on the tunnel so the dragon couldnât get out this side. On this side of the tunnel was a cave, with a lake at the far side of it. "Wow, the legendary blessed underground lake!" I said in amazement. "Yes, it is. Who are you?" a voice said from the shadows. "I am Icerlo, Guardian Wizard of Santrolin," I replied. "Let me guess, you are an ice wizard?" the voice said. "I am an ice, rainbow, cosmic, speed and aerial wizard," I answered. "Oh, well I suppose I had better introduce myself," said the voice. "I am Blazel, Head Warrior and Flame wizard of Santrolin. I am mainly a fire wizard, but I also can do aerial, nature, rock and water magic." "Oh, where are you going?" I asked. "I'm going up to the Academy of Sorcery. Where are you going?" answered Blazel. "I'm going to the Academy of Sorcery, too." I replied. "How about we go together?" asked Blazel. "Sure," I said. And we walked off, towards the lake. When we got there I froze the lake and we started walking across it. I started running then I jumped. I flipped round and put a pair of Cosmic boots and gloves on and I started flying. Blazel started leaping from stone pillar to stone pillar, the ones holding the cave up. "I'll race you to the end of the cave!" shouted Blazel. "Fine, but you will lose!" I replied. We both sped up, and we smashed through the ice. We were swimming at top speed, when a Rocky Plantocro started swimming after us. "That's just wonderful," said Blazel. "This is what I had to deal with on the way here," I replied. I zoomed straight towards the beast and smashed into it. I knocked it out, but I realised that while I was fighting the monster, Blazel had swam ahead. "Oh no you don't!" I yelled. I started superzooming, a power that only powerful supersonic beings can do. In the blink of an eye, I was out of the water and at the end of the cave smiling. Blazel had swam to the edge, drying her top and skirt. "Hmm. I underestimated you." said Blazel. "Well, I told you, my main power is ice, but my favourite is cosmic." I replied. We started walking off, towards a wall. "I can handle this," I said, confidently. I put my hands together and shot a beam out of them, directly at the wall. It hit a Reflectigem and shot upwards. I stopped the beam and we started walking through the tunnel. Blazel cut a root off a tree and lit one end of it with her fire magic. We walked off down the tunnel and we found something that looked like a crystal. "Isn't that a Reflectigem?" asked Blazel. "Yeah, those things are really rare." I said. We pulled it out and it look like a big, reflective crystal. I put it in Blazel's bottomless bag, because she needed it more than I did. Before I did, I cut two pieces of the gem, pierced a hole through them and put two pieces of string through the holes. From that minute onward, we never took them off from around our necks. I grabbed Blazel's hand and then flew up through the hole the reflected beam had made. I landed on the ground beside the hole and Blazel noticed our academy on the hill in front of us. It was dark so we rested under the old oak beside us. Blazel cast a spell which made the tree go hollow. We walked inside and it was quite big for a tree. We cast a few spells and the inside of the tree looked kind of like the inside of a log cabin. Kind of. There was a little fire, a few cupboards, two beds, a log table, some wooden plates, cups and cutlery. We lay down in the beds after we closed the door and fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up the next morning Blazel was already awake. "Morning, sleepy head," said Blazel. "Morning, what are you doing?" I asked. "I'm making breakfast," replied Blazel. "Oh, what are you making?" I asked. "Berry Pie. Berries are the only things that grow around here," answered Blazel. "What types of berries?" I asked. "They are Crimerries," Blazel replied, "because this is a Crimerrie tree. They're up top.". Blazel finished making the pie a few minutes later. We tasted it and it was delicious so we ate it. After that I put my gloves and boots on and we walked out of the tree. Blazel made a key for the small house in the tree out of a twig and locked the house. She put the key in her bottomless bag, and we started to walk towards our school. We noticed some ruins on the way there so we went to explore them. We walked in, and we heard someone creeping around. We saw a stone table with a FreezeFlame Diamond on it, and we decided to race to it. This time Blazel won, because I wasn't flying. I wasn't too bothered though. A huge steel dragon burst out of the depths behind the table. "YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVE YOUR WORTH BY BEATING ME TO BE ABLE TO TAKE A FREEZEFLAME CRYSTAL! YOU CAN HAVE ONE CRYSTAL PER PERSON.RRROOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!!" roared the dragon. "You ready?" I asked. "Yes, let's do this!" shouted Blazel. This battle wasn't going to be easy, and it wasn't. The dragon had three heads, all breathing molten steel. It had two very strong tails trying to hit us and knock us into the depths. Its arms were throwing rocks at us from every direction, and to add to all that, its whole body was covered in hard megasteel armor. I was flying around to distract it, while Blazel was concentrating on a very powerful fire, nature, rock and water spell called Semi-Earths Wrath. I had to do ice, rainbow and I had to fly around really fast to create a whirlwind, to do the other half. "It's ready!" shouted Blazel. I flew down to her and we both shouted at the same time: "Iraknus Ven!". Most elements on Earth attacked the great beast, defeating it. We took two pieces of the diamond, pierced a hole in them, and put them on the string around our necks. Someone came out of the shadows and said, "Well, well, well. What do we have here? Oh, a couple of kids! Mind if I join you on your way to the academy? My name is Wetrol, Head Swimmer and Water Wizard of Santrolin." "If you can beat me in a race underwater," I said. "My name is Blazel and his is Icerlo, and you can come with us if you can beat him in a race, which I doubt you will..." said Blazel. We raced to the academy through a very big and deep lake. We dove in and Wetrol used water spells to get very very close to the finsh line. But I just zoomed after him. Although he wasn't quick enough. I beat him. "Your quick," I said, "but not quick enough." "See ya in the academy!" shouted Wetrol, and he ran off. Me and Blazel walked off towards the academy. We walked in through the gates and stared at the market square in awe. It was massive.
