So I've recently started playing Colony again and it has come to my attention that what really wins are the builds you use. In particular the "tdh" build seems to be an extremely effective build against pretty much any strat (except mirror in which case it's all up to micro).

So I'm making this thread for those of you who would like to post up your 1v1 strats and why you think they are viable/competitive. Despite the fact that in the past few days since I've been back the tdh build has not yet failed me in a 1v1, I don't want to just play a single strat...I'd like to know others and test them out for myself. So please post what gov you like to use, what buildings, what units, what you think it counters etc.

Gladiators are bad. If you build them, you shall perish.


there is a time and a place for every unit. However it is true TopRank that gladiators are not the best unit. Nor are they a staple unit. The only reason why you would use a gladiator is if your opponent has missle power, your opponent has no hovers, and/or if you have or can make a decent amount of medics. The gladiator is the jack of all trades, master of none.

lols glads beat prides in 1v1 battles if i remember right, but prides are infinitely more useful than them. If you build armies of prides vs glads, the glads win i think.

I usually use the Mechs (I dont know what they called) I kind of spam them into an army. The server sometimes thinks I hack so I get kick/banned...its annoying. Then someone told me that I should stop doing that...hard not to when the [i]other team spams stuff. >.<

the current anti-hack system is crap it does not work on hackers and it kicks people with bad connection (thats why you are kicked, bad connections so the server thinks you hack but its actually ur internet being bad) i think krin should just remove it because its doing more harm then good; instead he should appoint mods to kick/ban hackers etc.

If you're even remotely serious, then fine. But if you're a hacker as is mentioned above...you're wasting both your and my time. Judging by the fact that you think glads are useful, you probably are already wasting my time.

Just so you know, if you play without building a glad, I will mock you. And you will deserve it.

Not so. The system works far better than previous ones. Sure, some people with crappy internet get kicked, but the bottom line is, if their internet is that bad they shouldn't be playing a game online as multiplayer. You lag far too much to even play decently.

No mods are going to just do this as their duty/job. It requires FAR too much work and is just absurd. You'd need to have a support team that could moniter gameplay that had taken place and was reported by players. You know how many times people would report sh!t they thought was hacking/glitching when they're just too bad to realize they're using a bad strategy?

I remember before the anti-hacking existed, and believe me, it was NOT a pretty sight. It got to the point where I wouldn't play a game unless I had played with each of the players before.

yeah alot of the new players are ungratful to how much effort was put in to sliming down the numbers of hackers to a bare minimum..

I WILL WIN, AND IF YOU CHICKEN OUT, AND ARENT ONLINE ON COLONY ON APRIL 15 @ 5:00pm, I WILL MAKE IT KNOWN THAT YOU WERE TOO MUCH OF A COWARD TO FIGHT A YOUNGER TEEN AGAINST A UNIT THAT YOU THINK IS INFERIOR ANYWAY!!!! COMPRENDE???

The hack system was good. Hackers are just "smart". The anti-hack system is over a year old now so hackers had plenty of time to exploit its flaws.

Appointing moderators are in practice is a good idea, however its not worth the time. Colony is a flash game that's already over 3 years old. Might as well spend the time on other games (like colony 2) instead of fixing games like this.

Furthermore there are alternate solutions to hackers. Like prevention. If you know its a hacker then don't play with them. If they harass you so what? Its like 2 minutes of spam with about 10 minutes of gaming per good match. Also check their stats. Also try creating set matches or join clans. all of these lower your wasting time. If you do end up against a hacker, why not fight fire with fire. About 25% of the hackers tend to hesitate the first time they hack against you. Call them out and the remaining usually hesitate or deny it also. use that hesitation to kick their @#$. Though your probably not on a hack site, glitch them out.

I'm pretty sure you wont show up on April 15 at 5:00pm ether. Especially since 5:00 pm is 6:00pm or 4:00 pm or some amount of time depending on where you live. For all we know you can just change the time whenever you wish :P
