What Kind of Gamer are you. Back awhile ago I made a website for my HTML class and I wrote an FPS tips guide. Well since I never posted it on line I figured I would place it here.
So yeah what kind of gamer are you?

The expert- This gamer is really good at the game and is probably called a hacker or a pro. Usually this gamer is some kind of developer or is paid to play. Experts don't die and are considered as cheaters.

The extreme gamer- Decked out in all the latest fancy gadgets for gaming. The extreme gamer is pretty good at games but not quite a pro.

The wannabe- This player has what it takes to be a gamer and he has some cool gaming gear, but for some reason he just isn't that good at the game. He likes playing but he still hasn't found what game he is good at.

The noob- Whether he is new at games or he is just starting the game lets face it he sucks. Noob is a another name for newbie or new player. His name is usually the default name that the game has given him such as &quotlayer".

The hacker or cheater- The hacker is only good due to the fact that he has manipulated the game. The hacker usually changes his name a lot so someone doesn't recognize him and kick him. If you see someone leave the game after five minutes even though they were good at the game then they were probably kicked from the server. There are types of programs that will analyze players that join the server. Once it finds something that is not in the normal version of the game it will disconnect you.

The Trash Talker- This gamer has little or no skill. He usually resorts to talking trash to offend people. The trash talker usually like to play with bots or low amount of players.

The Cache Checker- This player is pretty good and he knows a lot of secrets and hidden areas. He likes to either change the level to one with secrets or he likes to look for secrets. He will ask people for secrets and he will show them secrets.

The Sniper or plotter- This player will wait out other people for the perfect shot or if he has a death wish on someone and wants revenge. He will hide and wait for a good kill. Doesn't always get a good score but it doesn't matter, because he gets revenge.

The kamikaze- The kamikaze is a desperate player and wants to fuel his revenge by going berserk. Will rush out with explosives and blow everything up.

Anyways this obviously can't explain everyone but post what you think might be what you are. Just a little fun to read and post topic I thought i would create.

So yeah post what you think you might be and when I created this I originally thought of multiplayer but I am sure some of these can work for single player.

Stealth gamer:
This easily goes along with sniping, but not always. 80% of my kills are executed without victim knowing my position.

I would have to be an extreme gamer (without turtle beaches) and a very good Kamikaze. Made a class and Clan around it.

The Casual Gamer: One who has bad to pro skill

maybe by todays standards but i'm not used to casual gamers having pro skill. my guess is that these gamers do not have pro skill but they are helped by the game alot or that the games played are just easy.

anyway... why is the topic only about shooters?

i would call myself a "overall random player" i play all genres of games (except 1 or 2 maybe) and i'm pro in a few old skool shooters and are entirly noob in some others. (final fantasy 12 till most recent FF)

The Casual Gamer: One who has bad to pro skill, and only plays for recreation and to have a good time. Doesn't spend more than 1-2 hours playing.

I was going through this entire thread thinking I was gonna have to insert this one. You beat me to it lol. This is where fall, although I really hate FPS's so I do alot of really crappy Kamikazes too.

anyway... why is the topic only about shooters?

I was wondering this too. Many other games exist. In fact another good genre to talk of stereotypes is the RPG genre, with it's classes I have noticed lots of stereotypes. Note lots of these go together and I just split them up where I felt like it so bear with me.

I am gonna attempt to make a list of the types of players in MMORPG's since I have at least sampled easily 20 RPG's, I have run into many of these players. Keep in mind these are stereotyping maneurisms as opposed to actual classes the game might offer.

The Assertive Leader- The assertive leader is the type of person that will take leadership of a group if it needs leadership. Usually a very wise and knowledgeable player, but will listen to the party to make sure everything runs smoothly

The Aggressive leader- This player has leadership skills but often runs the party like a dictatorship, not standing for any lip or problems from the others

The Ego player- This is the player who can never accept when he makes a mistake. The player often has a decent amount of experience and skill but will not entertain the idea that he/she may be the problem.

The Teacher- This player often has alot of experience and will help teach or train the other players in how to play or use their abilities best. (This is where I fall)

The mute- This player will not talk to other party members. Often simply looking to finish a quest with no fuss, they follow the party and will usually help however they can, unless they are also deaf.

The deaf- Often coupled with being a mute, these players completely igonre talk and instruction from the chat box most mmo`s offer. Often a nuisance in battle, they are unpredictable and are not easily led.

The tank- Much as the role would suggest, these players need to get into the fray for the action. This is how they feel they contribute and are often unsatisfied/underwhelmed with buffing others. They are brutes who charge headfirst and expect aid to carry them through

The creature-phobic- these players in a party are often the ranged players (especially healers fall here often). They contrast the tank in that they can't stand being near any monsters or drawing aggro. Often need to be watched constantly to make sure they focus as opposed to running from a monster (yes these exist and they are soooooo annoying)

The trollers- Name kind of says it all. These players purposely annoy, anger other players for a reaction, often very aggressive and defiant.

The relationship players- These players are in the game for the social aspect of the game as opposed to the battling. These players are often low levels, and often girls (by no means do all girls fall in here, but the social players are almost always female, plz don't be offended). These characters aren't always reliable in a party but make great friends.

The high lvl social players- extension of the last type that I felt merited a seperate paragraph. These players are still very social but have experience in the game and are knowledgeable about hot topics in the game. They know news in the game, events and are great friends.

The item mall hound- These players are often very experienced and pay money into the game. These players often are very active traders and always will snap up a new fashion as it comes out. Very social and often very rich in game money. Make friends with these and you will probably get very expensive and valuable gifts for no to little cost.

The solo player- These players are very reluctant to party with others. Often go mute in a party, but they are often just aiming to do their own thing. They can often be very defiant or in a rush to finish a quest.

K so I realize some of these are a little weird but I worked really hard to make this list so I hope you guys appreciate this. If you feel there are more then feel free to add more. Like I said I fall under a couple of these but I mainly am a teacher type.

I'd like to propose another type, which is what I am.

Adaptive: This type of gamer prefers to take the route which is good all around but may not specialize in anything. Depending on the situation this player will change equipment, fighting styles, strategies or skill sets and rely on skill to compete with those who focus heavily on a single aspect of the game.

I generally don't like people who think they're hardcore because they have a good K or just general ****heads online who insult people for being (in want of a better term) noobs.

Some kids take gaming too seriously in my opinion.

Regarding a new type of gamer, what about.

Average Joe: Plays games for fun and has an average K. Gets a little annoyed sometimes at people for camping or insulting other players but tends to ignore this and will generally play with his friends, not as some dumb, nerdy clan, but as a fun pass time.

Quick scoper: this type of gamer is found mainly in cod with a bolt action sniper a perk that increases aim speed , and a perk that helps with hipfire this sniper quick scopes and no scopes to make montages and/or to annoy people. they have a bad or good kd depending on thier skill and luck.

The ture marksmen: this sniper uses a semi-auto sniper and will aim for head shots and is veary accurte and/or follow up with several shots to make sure the target is dead veary rare and is commonly seen spawn trapping in cod and at the back of the map in battle field not sure about halo and gears of war etc

Zombie noob: this player is new to playing zombie games and has none or little knowlge about zombies will try to kill them like a real human wand will not or rarely use the enviroment to thier advantage will not last long in a zombie outbreak

zOmbie Slayer: (Me) this player has a huge understanding of zombies and will kill them efficently, uses everything to his advantage knows what to use and more

sorry for my spelling
