its easy to think that its the games themselves that cause or lead to the behaviors of children. In truth, they do play a part in the fantasy of performing the acts as well as 'numbing', as the term is used, for images. However, the lack of parenting and follow up by the caregivers of children in many (not all) cases leads to the escalation of actions and coupled with a lack of consequences, progresses to escalating and worsening behaviors, separation of and deviation from their development and of understanding the situations and the impacts of their actions. All things play a part in the behaviors, however its the lack of support or understanding that should be provided that worsens and antagonizes the problem.
alot of the times video games tend to bring out violence in kids who's parents are never there, have bad parents, or no parents and don't know any better, so they play the game, and the game influences them to go out and do crime
Hell no! I think all this "games encourage violence and crime" is all a load of ****, if a kid can not tell the difference between reality and virtual reality then that is just stupid.
ALL THOUGH, maybe the kids who's parents let them play extremely violent games 24/7 (e.g. a 9 year old playing GTA4) then i suppose the kid would get too used to the game.
But i do think it is VERY uncommon that any game would lead to any sort of violence and crime and that it is just an excuse for parents to get mad at violent games.
exactly, octane. a kid that goes out and shots a guy cuz hes played too much grand theft auto. in that situation and probly any other video game copycat crime games, i say the problem isnt the games, its the kid. a 6 year old walked into my room and watched me play about 5 minutes of liberty city stories, and said, "theres no way anyone could survive that, you'd hafta be crazy to try that" etc. kids know better.
i personally dont think they do... its just, who you tag along with, the way u think... and if ye can seperate real life and games... just make a limit or whatsoever on games... its just the way the kid thinks and not the game itself..
it all depends on the kid wheather or not he/she is mentally vulnerable (didnt want to say stupid may offense sum ppl) enough to attemp wat he/she played in a video game or wat he/she saw on TV
oh and i forgot to say that i also have been playing M games since i was 4 (my first was when i was 4) and i am fine i am not thinking bout anything...i think 0: LOL
Yea i do but it depends on what sort of game eg. Halo 3 won't encourage manty people but games such as GTA4 is a lot more likely to make people commit crimes as it's more realistic than shooting a couple of aliens
well to be honest I AM 10 and play violent games but I would not comit crimes its like some crimes could risk your life you wouldnt want that to happen when your my age, REALLY!
Well, this case has been brought up a million times.. To be honest when I was a kid, I always played violent games like GTA3 etc. And I have have never been encouraged to commit crimes.
But back to the point.. Some kids find the main person or someone you see alot in a game, "cool" and "rockin' awsome". Which encourage them to redo the things that the fantasy-figure does in the game. But only they do it on real.
Well, for a kid that might have commited a crime whether he had played the game or not the game might encourage him to do so. However a kid that doesn't want or need to commit crimes probably won't be affected as badly or at all.
